Folsom Blue is unlikely to take up his option in the Vertem Eider Handicap Chase at Newcastle on Saturday due to the probability of quick ground.
With clerk of the course James Armstrong pondering the idea of watering the track, Gordon Elliott's mud-lover would not have conditions to suit.
Part-owner Gary O'Brien said: "I'd say it's highly unlikely that he'd travel to be honest.
"We left him in in the hope that the forecast was wrong, but if they are talking about watering, that's no good for him.
"We've just been sitting on our hands. We could have run him in the Punchestown National Trial that he won last year, but the ground was quick enough there.
"He did run over hurdles last time and his mark is much lower over them, but it is very rare to get a race over hurdles further than three miles and that is his bare minimum these days.
"There doesn't seem to be much coming up for him. The Midlands National is a possibility, he's in the National itself and then there's the Irish National later on.
"It's been such a strange season with the ground, it just feels like it hasn't got going for so many. Hopefully if the ground is right, he can go to Uttoxeter."
