Only fast ground would rule Buveur D'Air out of the Fighting Fifth

Nicky Henderson says only fast ground at Newcastle next week would rule Buveur D’Air out of the Bet Victor Fighting Fifth Hurdle.

It has been the intended starting point for the dual Unibet Champion Hurdle winner all autumn and even the potential presence of Samcro wouldn’t change that – but he does need rain.

“The only doubt is the ground. It was good to firm last week and if it’s good to firm next week he won’t run,” the trainer warned.

Buveur D’Air had a wind operation over the summer and the trainer added: “Barry (Geraghty) said it was noticeable and what I could hear last year I can’t hear this year.”
