This weekend's 10-furlong Group One has been the target for dual Arc de Triomphe heroine Enable ever since it was announced she was to miss Royal Ascot last month and John Gosden's ace features in a potentially high-class field.
A third win in the Arc is the primary objective and Frankie Dettori, who has been on board as her work as stepped up on the Newmarket gallops recently, is happy with her progress.
"She's well, I'm very pleased with her," he told Sky Sports Racing.
"I've been riding her for the last month and she's really come on, she's ready for the run."
Enable is a 6/5 chance with Sky Bet in their antepost Coral-Eclipse market.
Magical (9/2) was second to Enable at the Breeders' Cup last year but has been in scintillating form this time around with three wins and a second behind Crystal Ocean in the Prince of Wales's Stakes at the Royal meeting.
She forms a five-strong entry for the all-conquering Aidan O'Brien who could also call upon Magic Wand, Flag Of Honour, Hunting Horn and St James's Palace Stakes hero Circus Maximus.
Addeybb is another Royal Ascot winner in contention with the Wolferton Stakes victor set to represent trainer William Haggas, while the home team also includes Sir Michael Stoute's Lockinge winner Mustashry who was disappointing in the Queen Anne Stakes.
Stoute could also saddle Regal Reality who shone over the same course and distance as the Eclipse when providing his trainer with an 11th Brigadier Gerard Stakes at the end of May.
Roger Varian's Zabeel Prince, Harry Dunlop's Knight To Behold and Danceteria from the David Menuisier stable are also engaged, along with Dante Stakes scorer Telecaster, with Hughie Morrison's charge set to drop back in distance after struggling in the Investec Derby at Epsom.
Telecaster's participation has still to be confirmed though, with a decision expected midweek.
"We've stayed in so far and we'll take a view later in the week," said owner Mark Weinfeld.
"There's 13 left in. We'd originally thought the Eclipse might come too soon and there's Enable to think of, but you should never run away from one.
"There's always a chance Enable might not turn up yet and if we were second to Enable, it wouldn't be the end of the world.
"The Dante form was boosted by Japan at Ascot, but we'll only run if we think it's the right thing to do. Hughie is confident he's got a big one in him."
