Eminent ready to clash with Cracksman at Royal Ascot

Martyn Meade believes he has Eminent back to his best ahead of the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot on Wednesday week.

A Group Two winner in France last year, the four-year-old son of Frankel was expected to have few problems on his return to action at Chester in the Huxley Stakes but he trailed in last of the five runners.

The Manton handler believes Eminent is back in peak form, but he is fully aware of a Cracksman-shaped shadow cast over the race.

"I just don't know what to put Chester down to, but he's in great form now," said Meade. "He'll go for the Prince of Wales's, which unfortunately means taking Cracksman on, but there was little between them in the Derby.

"I can't put the Chester run down to anything. We mentioned his heart but we can see no evidence of that apart from his heart rate was a bit high. Hopefully we'll see him at his best next week."

Eminent is a 12/1 chance with Sky Bet behind even-money favourite Cracksman.
