David Egan keeps Qabala ride in 1000 Guineas

Roger Varian has confirmed he will be double-handed with Qabala and Mot Juste in the Qipco 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.

The pair pleased Varian in a workout on Friday to rubber-stamp their places in the fillies' Classic over the Rowley Mile next weekend.

Qabala leapt to the head of the ante-post market with an impressive victory over her stablemate in the Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket's Craven meeting, in the hands of David Egan.

He will continue his association with the daughter of Scat Daddy, to ride in a Classic for the first time, while Varian has booked William Buick for Mot Juste while Andrea Atzeni serves his riding ban.

"Having come through their work from yesterday morning very well, we are delighted to confirm that Qabala and Mot Juste are very much on course to run in the 1000 Guineas next weekend," the Newmarket trainer told www.varianstable.com.

"David Egan will maintain his partnership with the Group Three Nell Gwyn winner Qabala in the Guineas - and with Andrea Atzeni suspended for the meeting, we are very pleased to be able to secure William Buick to partner Mot Juste.

"Runner-up in the Nell Gwyn, Mot Juste was ridden by William when winning the Group Three Oh So Sharp Stakes at the track as a two-year-old."
