Nigel Twiston-Davies' THE NEWEST ONE is worth backing on handicap debut in the "Fearless",The Tim Brookshaw Story, Launches Today "National Hunt" Novices' Handicap Hurdle at Ludlow on Thursday.
A close relative to stable legend The New One, The Newest One has yet to hint he's in the class of his three-parts brother, but he has displayed enough to warrant an interest in him now he steps up in trip on his handicap debut off a lowly mark.
After three qualifying runs over hurdles he's attained a rating of 117 and on the pick of his form, a close-up third at Haydock in December, he could be dangerous off that mark.
Crucially he looks to have been learning on the job. He seems to be settling better judging by his run in very heavy ground at Sandown last time and that gives him a good chance of seeing out the trip at Ludlow.
Better ground might be ideal for him going forward, but backing him on his handicap debut is difficult to resist as he's had the look of a project for this sphere on his last couple of outings.
