Ben Linfoot is back in the Nap hot-seat on Wednesday and he's taking a chance on a novice chaser who looks potentially well treated.
Sporting Life Daily Nap, December 19
The Prodec Networks Chase (1.40) for novice handicap chasers looks wide open at Newbury on Wednesday and it could be worth chancing VIEUX LILLE on his first start for Jamie Snowden.
He’ll likely be a big price judging by his most recent form but he wasn’t the only Philip Hobbs horse to struggle last season and he has tumbled down a stone in the weights as a consequence of those runs.
His best form for Hobbs came when he was second to Yala Enki off a mark of 133 in the Tommy Whittle at Haydock and he gets to race off 10lb lower now, so he’s certainly well handicapped if he’s been revitalised by his new surroundings.
He’s also had wind surgery, so a couple of factors could help him bounce back to form while Gavin Sheehan, who I like around Newbury, takes over in the saddle.
There are some nice types above him in the weights, but nothing looks obviously way ahead of the assessor and he could be the one if he does rediscover his best off the back of a 253-day break.
