Free betting tips: Sporting Life's daily horse racing nap of the day

Matt Brocklebank is doing a War cry ahead of the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup at Cheltenham - don't miss the latest Nap selection.

Sporting Life Daily Nap, December 15

NAP: War Sound (1.55 Cheltenham)

Philip Hobbs has won the Caspian Caviar (December Gold Cup) in the past with Monkerhostin (2004) and Village Vic (2015) and looks to hold outstanding claims of landing the valuable prize again courtesy of War Sound.

A good hurdler in his youth when rated as high as 148, he was seemingly struggling to fulfil his potential over fences last year but appears to have come to life in a big way this time around.

He absolutely dotted up at Aintree last month on his seasonal return and while a rise of 10lb makes life tougher, the nine-year-old – who has only had nine chase starts in his life – still looks feasibly treated from a mark of 146. He handles any ground and has a similar profile to Village Vic.

Sporting Life Daily Nap, December 16

NAP: First Account (1.20 Carlisle)

First Account clearly bumped into one first time out over hurdles at Carlisle and can give the form another boost in Sunday's Smarkets 'National Hunt' Novices' Hurdle back at the Cumbrian venue.

Donald McCain's point-to-point winner was third behind Al Dancer on his jumping debut and that effort could hardly have been advertised any better with the winning positively scooting home from a mark of 129 at Cheltenham on Friday.

First Account shaped really well anyway, staying on well after being passed having pulled himself to the front.

No doubt Brian Hughes will look to hang onto him a bit longer on this occasion but as long as he settles then moving up a couple of furlongs will definitely suit (point win came over 3m) and the forecast rain in the area over the weekend will also clearly play to his strengths.
