Free betting tips: Sporting Life's daily horse racing nap of the day

Matt Brocklebank is in the nap hotseat on Sunday and he hopes it's a case of third time lucky at Exeter.

Sporting Life Daily Nap, January 20

It should be a case of third time lucky over obstacles for Golden Promise on Sunday.

He lines up for Jonjo O’Neill in the Starsports.Bet Maiden Hurdle on the back of two encouraging efforts over hurdles so far, the first of which when second to What’s Occurring at Hereford.

On the face of it, Golden Promise took a slight backwards step when only fifth back at the same venue when last seen in November but there was serious depth to that event with third Jarveys Plate the most notable as he’s since claimed Listed honours at Cheltenham.

In total, Golden Promise has bumped into five subsequent scorers in his two efforts over timber and if he’s made any sort of progress in the 68 days he’s been off the track since, then he should take all the beating in what looks a relatively ‘winnable’ affair.

Quick ground seems to suit on what we’ve seen so far but he’s bred to handle ease underfoot so the son of Flemensfirth shouldn’t be inconvenience by the bit of rain around this weekend.

Sporting Life Daily Nap, January 21

Curragh-based John Feane is making a real name for himself with a tidy record on both sides of the Irish Sea and it’s particularly worth taking note when he sends runners to Britain.

Feane saddled 11 winners from 34 runners at a 32% strike-rate in this country during 2018, and his first foray this year sees a team of four declared for Wolverhampton on Monday.

Each and every one makes a degree of appeal but AHUNDREDNOTOUT may be the one who represents the best value as we can put a line through the form of his last effort over seven furlongs at Dundalk, when not a lot went right from soon after the start and the saddle ended up slipping in the straight.

Prior to that, the five-year-old was progressing very nicely, rising from a mark of 58 to 70.

His penultimate effort, which came over this six-furlong trip, was a really good run in third behind Alfredo Arcano and a repeat run should put him right in the mix here.

It’s worth noting that Ahundrednotout has been to Wolverhampton twice in the past and he’s been successful on both occasions and Stevie Donohoe – in the plate on those two occasions – is back in the saddle in place of a 7lb claimer.

The draw could have been a touch kinder but the return to six furlongs should definitely suit the strong-traveller and a typically bright start should negate any potential issues from stall eight of nine.
