Trainer weighing up possible targets for Caspian Prince

Caspian Prince could return to Ireland in search of further Group-race success in the Derrinstown Stud Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh on September 10 after taking the scalp of Marsha.

Tony Coyle's speedster put up an arguably career-best performance to outpoint last year's Prix de l'Abbaye winner by a short head in a thrilling finish to the Sapphire Stakes last weekend.

There are plenty of options for eight-year-old Caspian Prince with a trial for the Abbaye another race Coyle will consider for his stable star.

"He's a hell of a good horse. He's a legend," said the Malton trainer.

"He's grand. There's not a bother on him. We've not done a lot with him this week.

"There are plenty of options for Caspian. There's the Flying Five in the Curragh and the Abbaye trial in France. Basically, we'll just play it by ear.

"Him and Snap Shots have been out in the field. We're just keeping them ticking over."

Snap Shots went close to giving Coyle a big double at the Curragh when he was second to Tithonus in the Scurry Premier Handicap on the same card.

"I think Snap Shots is still improving. He's a big frame of a horse. There was a question mark if he'd go on soft ground, but he just got beat at Haydock on soft," said Coyle.

"He was unlucky at the Curragh. It was one of those things.

"Hopefully he can bang in a big one by the end of the year. He's a good horse.

"Snap Shots will probably go for the Great St Wilfrid (on August 19) if he gets in or he'll go for the silver consolation. He loves Ripon."
