William Buick lost his appeal against a suspension he received at York last Friday but is still free to ride at the Investec Derby meeting at Epsom.
York's stewards banned the jockey for five days after he was found guilty of careless riding aboard Alqamar, who won a mile-and-a-half handicap that brought the three-day Dante meeting to a close.
Although Buick's appeal was dismissed by a disciplinary panel of the British Horseracing Authority, his suspension was reduced to four days. For bans up to four days, jockeys can apply to postpone the days of a ban when it clashes with Group One races, whereas for bans of five days or more they do not have that option.
The 28-year-old rider can look forward to riding Jack Hobbs in the Coronation Cup on Oaks day, and Godolphin's retained jockey is unlikely to be short of a ride in the Derby as racing manager John Ferguson said on Tuesday that there were "five names on the team sheet" for the premier Classic.
The panel ordered Buick's deposit be returned.
