Harry Bentley fears the soft ground could prevent Limato repeating his victory of 12 months ago in Sunday's Prix de la Foret at Chantilly.
Henry Candy's stable star is without a win since his success in the seven-furlong Group One, but he has run several good races in defeat this term.
While Bentley is convinced Limato remains as good as ever, he is concerned that conditions will not be in his favour.
"Wherever Limato is concerned, you have to be on weather watch and it's not looking too good," Bentley told At The Races.
"The forecast is for more rain unfortunately, but we'll just have to see what the next few days have in store.
"The decision will be down to Mr Candy and Mr (Paul) Jacobs (owner).
"In my opinion he's still very much a Group One horse. I thought he ran very well at Goodwood and I do believe he is still capable at the top level."
Limato is 4/1 favourite for the Foret at Sky Bet.
