Beauty Generation storms home in Hong Kong Mile

Beauty Generation won his second Longines Hong Kong Mile as he easily accounted for his rivals in the Group One at Sha Tin.

The John Moore-trained gelding is one of the top-ranked milers in the world and was a hot favourite for this event after winning his last four starts.

Zac Purton had to put in some early work to get his mount to the front in the early stages, but once he assumed the lead, Beauty Generation always looked comfortable and he stretched away when his rider gave the signal in the straight.

Beauty Generation soon put daylight between himself and the field, with Purton easing down some way before the line as the William Buick-ridden Vivlos took second with Southern Legend third.

William Haggas' One Master could not get a pitch early on in the race but finished well enough while Andrew Balding's Beat The Bank was back in the pack.

Moore said: "That was the most impressive win I've had in Hong Kong by far. What he did today - he was taken on up the inside and he had to do it the hard way as far as I'm concerned.

"We've got a really good horse on our hands here. They breed them tough in New Zealand!

"I said to the press earlier in the week he needs to go away to make a global great and from that point of view I will speak to the owners about the Dubai Turf and that is my preference.

"I don't look back to the past so much and today was an absolutely outstanding effort. He just lived up to expectations. There were a lot of detractors out there that said this and that, and those detractors have said now he is a champion.

"Once he gets to the front he has a high cruising speed and when he gets to the corner, he lets loose and the horses in behind just have trouble making up the ground. Today was fantastic.

"I'd love to travel and take him to Dubai. I've won the Shaheen and had others placed over there. He could go further as he has a very high cruising speed and no doubt he would get a mile and a quarter."
