Aljazzi targeted at America for next outing

Aljazzi, runner-up to Qemah in the Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot last week, is likely to head to America for her next outing.

Trainer Marco Botti has earmarked the Beverly D Stakes at Arlington Park for the four-year-old, who showed marked improvement at Ascot to be beaten just three-quarters of a length.

"At the moment we are thinking of the Beverly D at Arlington, which is in mid-August," said Botti.

"We didn't enter her in the Falmouth (Newmarket) because she wants time between her races and we thought if she ran in the Falmouth the Beverly D would come too quick.

"We've also entered her in the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown on September 9 so it looks like Arlington next, but that's not definite.

"We're delighted to be second in a Group Two with her, really. She split two Group One fillies so it was a big career-best.

"Last year we tried her over 10 furlongs but she didn't stay.

"She's more a miler, and I think in the Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket, when she was fifth, she didn't get home over a mile and one (furlongs) on a stiff track.

"She's obviously improved from three to four and we always hoped she'd be a classy filly."

Botti only had three runners at the meeting but Indian Dandy was also in the money when fourth in the Britannia Stakes.

However, he is likely to have run his last race for the stable.

"There's been lots of offers for him and it's possible he's going to Hong Kong," said Botti.

"I was amazed he only got put up 1lb as he won the race on his side."
