Redicean heads to Adonis Hurdle next

Redicean will take his next step towards the JCB Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival by running in the Grade Two Adonis Juvenile Hurdle at Kempton on February 24.

The Alan King-trained three-year-old, who is as short as 8/1 non-runner/no bet for the Grade One prize with Sky Bet, made it two from two over hurdles at the Sunbury course earlier this month when defying a penalty to follow up his win at the track over Christmas.

King said: "He won't go to Cheltenham Trials Day. If I had another week before Trials Day at Cheltenham he might have gone, but it is only a fortnight after his last run.

"He will go for the Adonis now and that then gives us 20 days from there to get him ready for the Triumph Hurdle.

"I don't know where people are coming from saying that he didn't jump well last time, as I thought he jumped absolutely fine. I was very pleased with his last run. He has beaten nothing yet, but just the way he is doing it is very pleasing."

The Barbury Castle handler has not ruled out running Mia's Storm in the RSA Insurance Chase at the Festival.

The eight-year-old mare saw her unbeaten run over fences come to an end on her first start at Grade One level when she fell in the Kauto Star Novices' Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day.

King said: "She is fine and is just on the back-burner. We are just ticking away with her and we won't run again until we get good ground.

"We might go for the RSA Insurance Chase or we might wait and go to Aintree. She doesn't want soft ground, we had to chance it as it was a Grade One, but I probably knew my fate before she got to the first."
