Former Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch is coming out of retirement to sign for the Oakland Raiders.
Lynch, a cult figure during his time in Seattle and nicknamed "Beast Mode", announced his retirement during the 2015 Super Bowl between the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers.
There has been speculation throughout this off-season that the 31-year-old was set to go back on that decision and sign with his hometown club.
His rights were still held by the Hawks but a trade has now been agreed to allow him to move to Oakland.
As part of the deal the Raiders have traded Lynch and a sixth round draft choice in 2018 with Seattle receiving a fifth round draft choice in the same year in exchange.A statement on the Oakland website read:
"The Oakland Raiders have acquired RB Marshawn Lynch via a trade with the Seattle Seahawks. As part of the trade terms, the Raiders will receive Lynch and a sixth round draft choice in 2018 in exchange for Oakland's fifth round selection in the 2018 NFL Draft."
Ahead of the announcement Raiders quarterback Derek Carr tweeted: "He's back... #BeastMode welcome to the squad bro @MoneyLynch #Oakland"
Lynch racked up 9,112 rushing yards and 74 touchdowns in six years with the Seahawks and four with the Buffalo Bills, adding 1,979 receiving yards and another nine touchdowns.
His arrival comes with the Raiders preparing to leave Oakland and move to Las Vegas in time for the 2019 season.
