Cincinnati release veteran linebacker Rey Maualuga

The Cincinnati Bengals have released veteran linebacker Rey Maualuga following the arrival of Kevin Minter.

Maualuga, who turned 30 at the start of the year, has played in 114 games with 104 starts since being selected in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft.

He also notched up starts in six play-off games during his time in Ohio as the Bengals begin the transition to a younger group of players at the position.

The 26-year-old Minter joined from Arizona on a one-year contract.
