TREBLE: Geelo Bullet (T1, 7.59 Peterborough)

by Matt Salter, Press Association Sport

The Sky Sports cameras are Peterborough bound this evening for the track’s big race of the year – the 2017 William Hill Peterborough Derby final (9.08).

Hiya Butt (T1), the ante-post favourite, has negotiated his way to the £8,500 decider with the minimal of fuss and boasts what looks a crack make-up on the fence tonight bidding to go unbeaten through the Category One event.

It is worth noting that last year’s Greyhound Derby third has been particularly well placed by Hayley Keightley and her team throughout his career and another big competition win likely beckons this evening.

On a competitive undercard, Maireads Ivy (T3) has been found a good opening in the William Hill Marathon at 8.51.

The Hove raider has been in good form at Crayford of late, winning impressively there over 714m last time out, and last year’s Boxing Day Marathon victor should be too good for tonight’s rivals.

Carl Perry has his string in good order at present and Geelo Bullet (T1) looks the one to be on in the William Hill Stayers at 7.59.

The son of Ace Hi Rumble was unlucky in the final of the William Hill-backed Grand Prix at Sunderland last month when attempting to make all but not quite able to shrug off Swift Hansel.

On another night he could have shown his rivals a clean pair of heels and that form reads well in the context of tonight’s race.
