Day four report

Jon Rahm and Ryan Palmer carded a final round of three-under 69 to win the Zurich Classic in Louisiana.

The team shot four birdies and one bogey to pull ahead in the alternate-shot fourth round, having begun the day tied for the lead with Scott Stallings and Trey Mullinax.

A birdie putt from Palmer on the par-5 second hole gave them the edge they needed and the duo remained in front for the rest of the round - with Rahm draining a 24-footer to save par on the 15th and continue the momentum.

The pair took a three-shot victory over Sergio Garcia and Tommy Fleetwood, finishing with a total of 26-under 262, while Stallings and Mullinax tumbled down the leaderboard with four bogeys, a double bogey and one birdie for a final round of 77.

Rahm said the win had been a team effort.

Speaking during a press conference, he said: "It's been incredible. The way it happened - he started off playing great, I kind of struggled and then I came through in the middle, and then he finished it off - it was amazing.

"To win as a team, it's something you don't get to feel very often in golf. I hope it happens again."

Garcia and Fleetwood had an eagle, four birdies and two bogeys to card a final round of 68 and finish with a total of 23-under 265, while Kyoung-Hoon Lee and Matt Every finished two shots further back to tie for third alongside Brian Gay and Rory Sabbatini.

Day three report

Jon Rahm and Ryan Palmer moved into a tie for the lead with Scott Stallings and Trey Mullinax after the third round of the Zurich Classic in Louisiana.

After a more than seven-hour rain delay on day one, teams got back on track to complete the third round on Saturday, with Rahm and Palmer playing 30 holes and Stallings and Mullinax completing 27 for a share of the lead at 23-under 193.

In the alternate-shot second round, Rahm and Palmer carded a seven-under 65 followed by a 64 in the best-ball third round, making just one bogey when both players found the water off the 17th tee.

Rahm gave a solid performance in the third round, making eight birdies, with Palmer saying he had learned a lot from the Spaniard.

"He's just fun to be around," Palmer told the PGA Tour website.

"He's actually a great guy. I've enjoyed every second with him. When you're up close and personal and watching it and see the shots he can hit around the green, you know, his short game is phenomenal. You can learn something from that, too, so I learned a lot. Honour to be a part of it."

Stallings and Mullinax share the lead with the Spanish-American duo after following up their second-round 70 with a blemish-free 62 in the third round, including an eagle from Mullinax on par-five second.

Brandan Grace and Justin Harding sit in third one shot back, while England's Tommy Fleetwood and Spanish team-mate Sergio Garcia finished in a tie for sixth at 19 under ahead of Sunday's alternate-shot final round.

Day two report

Peter Malnati and Billy Hurley III moved to the top of the leaderboard at the Zurich Classic before play was suspended due to darkness.

Catching up after a rain-delayed first-round, the American pair shot a best-ball nine-under 63 in the morning's four-ball format, before carding a second-round 67 in alternate-shot play to move to 14 under overall.

They posted a bogey-free second round and picked up shots at the second, sixth, 11th, 13th and 17th.

Scotland's Russell Knox and American Brian Stuard sit in a tie for second just one shot behind having carded a second-round 69.

First-round leaders Brian Gay and Rory Sabbatini also moved to 13 under alongside Scott Stallings and Trey Mullinax, and Kevin Kisner and Scott Brown, in incomplete rounds.

Gay-Sabbatini and Kisner-Brown completed four holes in the second round, after carding 60 and 62 respectively in the first round, while Stallings-Mullinax finished the front nine in their second round after an opening 61.

They will complete their rounds when play resumes at 7am (1pm BST) on Saturday.

Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell and Henrik Stenson, of Sweden, sit in a tie for sixth place on 12 under after following up their first-round 65 with a 67.

Day one report

Scott Stallings and Trey Mullinax sit at the top of the leaderboard at the Zurich Classic after a rain-hit day in Louisiana meant just 13 teams finished the first round.

The American duo, who started on the back nine, shot a best-ball 11-under 61 after rattling off four straight birdies over their last four holes in the four-ball format.

Half of the 80 teams were unable to start their round after thunderstorms and up to two-and-a-half inches of rain battered the New Orleans course, causing a seven-hour and 33-minute delay.

Scotland's Martin Laird and Nick Taylor, of Canada, were among those to finish their round, ending the day one shot back of Stallings and Mullinax.

Brian Gay and Rory Sabbatini, however, were closing in on the leaders after firing five birdies on the back nine to get to 10 under through 14 holes before darkness stopped play.

Joel Dahmen and Brandon Harkins finished tied for fourth at nine under alongside Brice Garnett and Chesson Hadley.

Play resume will resume at 7am on Friday (1pm BST).
