Watch: Neymar scores superb late winner after having rubbish thrown at him by Lyon fans

Neymar responded to being targeted by objects thrown from the stands at Lyon by scoring the winner in a 1-0 victory for Paris St Germain.

The missiles, which appeared to largely consist of paper rolled into balls, rained down on the Brazil international whenever he took a corner in the second half.

But, with the game seemingly heading for a goalless draw with three minutes to play, Neymar fired home the winner to establish a three-point lead at the top of Ligue 1 for his team.

After a neat exchange of passes with Marco Verratti, the former Barcelona forward received the ball from Angel Di Maria and created an angle to shoot from just inside the box, beating goalkeeper Anthony Lopes low to his left.

It is the second time in as many league matches that PSG have relied on Neymar to produce a late winner, after his stoppage-time goal got them out of jail in a 1-0 victory at Strasbourg last weekend.

Afterwards Paris St Germain head coach Thomas Tuchel said: "He's 100 per cent with us. He is 100 per cent in the group. He laughs, he is reliable, he is completely there with his team-mates. It's normal, it's necessary.

"It's his job. He's here to score and be decisive. It's Neymar. I expect that every time. I am demanding with him.

"This is only his third match in four months. He is not yet 100 per cent and he will do better. He will gain in physical capacity with the matches and this will help him. Ney is always decisive, he is always creative and he looks ahead."

Neymar's goal was arguably what PSG deserved, having dominated the match and been denied by a series of fine saves from Anthony Lopes in the first half.

Tuchel was relieved to get the win, which saw his team open up a three-point lead at the top of the table.

"It's always the same, we cannot control the result but only our performance," he said. "We had chances and we managed to control the game, it was super tight.

"Lyon play in the Champions League, they decided to defend low and tight. We had a lot of touches in the opposing area but we had to be patient, that's how we find the way through. We did not concede a goal either, so it's great."

Substitute Casimir Ninga scored an 11-minute hat-trick as Angers returned to winning ways with a 4-1 victory over St Etienne, getting their promising start to the campaign back on track.

Arnaud Nordin fired the visitors in front at Stade Raymond Kopa, but Pierrick Capelle netted an equaliser before being replaced by Ninga in the 69th minute.

The Chad international netted his first nine minutes later to begin his scoring spree and completed his treble with the addition of goals in the 84th and 89th minutes.

Angers sit second, three points behind PSG and ahead of third-placed Nice on goal difference.

In the day's other match, Rennes - who drew 1-1 with Celtic in the Europa League on Thursday - were held to the same scoreline by Lille at Roazhon Park.
