Sky Bet League Two round-up: Luton extended their lead

Luton made a flying start to the campaign
Luton made a flying start to the campaign

A review of Saturday's action in the Sky Bet Championship as Luton extended their advantage at the top of the table.

Sky Bet League Two results

Barnet 2-1 Morecambe
Cambridge 1-2 Newport
Carlisle 1-2 Port Vale
Coventry 2-1 Cheltenham
Crewe 3-0 Crawley
Exeter 2-1 Stevenage
Forest Green 0-2 Luton
Lincoln 2-0 Accrington
Mansfield 0-0 Yeovil
Notts County 0-0 Grimsby
Wycombe 1-0 Chesterfield

Luton extended their lead at the top of League Two with a 2-0 win against struggling Forest Green while Notts County slipped up at Grimsby.

The Hatters took a first-half lead trough Alan Sheehan's strike but had to play the last 30 minutes with 10 men after Jack Stacey was shown a red card for a high foot.

But Danny Hylton added a second in the 68th minute to ensure Luton extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to 10 games.

That was enough to move two points clear of Notts County, whose five-match winning run was ended by a goalless home draw against Grimsby.

Matt Green and Matt Rhead scored as Lincoln made it four straight wins in all competitions by downing play-off rivals Accrington 2-0.

The Imps moved to within a point of their opponents, who had Farrend Rawson sent off on the stroke of half-time.

Green scored from the resulting penalty and Rhead added a second after the break as Accrington suffered back-to-back league defeats for the first time this season.

Exeter moved above Accrington into the top three as goals from Lloyd James and Pierce Sweeney helped earn a 2-1 win against Stevenage, while Wycombe leapfrogged Stanley into fourth after Luke O'Nien's strike secured a 1-0 win against Chesterfield, who slip into the bottom two.

Barnet moved off the bottom and above both Forest Green and Chesterfield after giving their fans a rare victory to celebrate by beating Morecambe 2-1.

Jamal Campbell-Ryce's long-range drive and a Jack Taylor goal put the Bees in charge at half-time, but after John Akinde fired his penalty over the crossbar the visitors pulled one back through Adam Campbell.

Barnet held on to record their first home league win since September.

Crewe moved clear of the relegation zone as goals from Callum Ainley and Chris Dagnall (two) secured a 3-0 win against Crawley, who had both skipper Jimmy Smith and Jordan Roberts dismissed in the second half.

Elsewhere, goals from Tom Bayliss and Marc McNulty helped Coventry into the top seven after a 2-1 win against Cheltenham, while Mansfield were held to a goalless draw at home to lowly Yeovil.

Tyrone Barnett and Tom Pope helped give Port Vale a 2-1 win over Carlisle, who pulled one back through Richie Bennett, while Joss Labadie scored in added time to secure Newport a 2-1 win at Cambridge.
