Celtic dished out one last humiliation to hapless Rangers as their 5-1 win at Ibrox took them to within five games of an unbeaten domestic campaign.

The Parkhead faithful lapped up every moment of this season's sixth and final Old Firm duel as Brendan Rodgers' undefeated troops outclassed a feeble Rangers line-up from start to finish.

Early goals from Scott Sinclair and Leigh Griffiths robbed the hosts of any belief they had left before Callum McGregor, Dedryck Boyata and Mikael Lustig's second-half strikes handed Celtic their biggest ever Ibrox win. Kenny Miller's late reply was no consolation.

While Rangers' hopes of finishing second are all but gone, their old rivals now need only negotiate their final four league games and the William Hill Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen to complete a loss-free league season and historic treble.

Danny Swanson netted a controversial late goal and Craig Thomson added a second to give St Johnstone a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

A win for Aberdeen would have all but sealed a third consecutive runners-up spot.

However, they will have to wait at least a week longer after losing out to Saints in a match the home side dominated for the first hour.

The key moment came 10 minutes from time. Joe Lewis parried a Swanson shot and Ryan Jack took a touch before the Dons goalkeeper gathered the ball.

Referee Alan Muir ruled it was a back pass and, from the resulting indirect free-kick, Liam Craig set up Swanson to score. Thomson sealed the win with a breakaway goal three minutes later.

Neil McCann enjoyed a winning start to his Dundee reign as his side moved out of the bottom two with a 3-2 victory at Motherwell.

Mark O'Hara, with two goals, and Marcus Haber were on target at Fir Park as Dundee scored three times in quick succession to jump above Motherwell and Hamilton in their first match since Paul Hartley was sacked.

Louis Moult and Chris Cadden both pulled goals back and Stephen Robinson's men were denied a strong claim for another goal when Ben Heneghan's header was cleared from the goalmouth.

Kilmarnock moved a huge step closer to safety after a comfortable 2-0 win over Hamilton.

Conor Sammon broke the deadlock for the visitors from a well-worked corner before Jordan Jones added a second to put the Rugby Park men in a commanding position.

Accies were twice denied by two impressive saves from goalkeeper Freddie Woodman and spirited defending as they slipped further into trouble in the battle to avoid the drop.

Hearts' European aspirations are hanging by a thread despite a dramatic last-minute strike by Andraz Struna salvaging a 2-2 draw against 10-man Partick Thistle

After a dour first period, the fixture exploded into life at Tynecastle after the break when Kris Doolan nodded home his 14th goal of an impressive campaign.

Hearts levelled courtesy of an Isma Goncalves penalty - with Thistle defender Daniel Devine given his marching orders for the handball which conceded the penalty - only for the plucky visitors to reclaim the lead through Steven Lawless.

However, Struna - who had struck the bar earlier in the contest - pounced to ensure a share of the spoils.
