They say patience is a virtue and the best bet on Saturday comes in the very last race – the Chelmsford City Racecourse Fillies’ Handicap. Crystal Moonlight is the horse in question, representing the powerful team of Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore. She’s from the family of Crystal Ocean and capable of better than we’ve seen so far having been short of room at a crucial stage when third on her handicap debut at Salisbury last time. The assessor has generously dropped her three pounds on the back of that defeat and this strong travelling daughter of New Approach can take advantage of his leniency.

Matthew Brocklebank

No I’m Easy was considered good enough to run in the Mill Reef Stakes as a two-year-old and while he lost his way a bit at the start of the current campaign, he looked right back to where he was when scoring in first-time cheekpieces at Haydock recently. He put the race to bed quite stylishly after passing the two-furlong marker and looked good value for his half-length victory after idling close home. A 4lb rise to a mark of 79 looks perfectly fair given the fourth from Haydock, Rhosneigr, has won since and he’s well drawn in stall five. The cheekpieces are understandably retained and he should take plenty of beating getting the weight-for-age allowance against his elders.

Andrew Balding’s Reconnaissance looks set to thrive now switched to handicaps over a trip and he rates a good bet in the 188Bet Supports The NSPCC Nursery Handicap at Sandown. The Qatar Racing-owned Lope De Vega colt has had a race a month in maiden and novice company since making his debut in June and now qualifies for handicaps with a mark of 75 following his third run last time out. That was his turf debut at Nottingham and he travelled like the best horse in that race, but still ran green at the business end meaning he was eventually beaten just over two lengths in fourth. He didn’t quite have the boot to win that, but he’s bred for further and stepping up in trip to seven furlongs at a stiff track like Sandown looks ideal for his nursery bow.

Premier League - Liverpool v Leicester City (Saturday, 1230 BST)

The Reds have scored seven goals in their last three games while Leicester have bagged eight in their last three in all competitions. Last season this fixture produced over 2.5 goals home and away and the Foxes have shown they can score without Jamie Vardy, with Harry Maguire's contribution from defence showing they have goals throughout the field.

League One - Accrington v Scunthorpe (Saturday, 1500 BST)

Goals look likely in this game when you consider Accrington are sitting on a level goal difference having scored seven and conceded seven so far. Scunthorpe's defence has been poor, with 12 goals conceded. We are backing Scunthorpe due to the new manager effect, as Stuart McCall takes charge for the first time, and the fact the Iron have a much stronger squad than recent results suggest.

Sporting Life Accumulator

Nottingham Forest may have beaten Newcastle in midweek, but in the Championship they have yet to get going with just one win so far. Brentford are unbeaten at home in three games in all competitions, and have only lost once in their four home matches against Forest in the Championship since 2015.

Newport are unbeaten in League Two since the opening day, winning three in the process. Port Vale have won just once in five in all competitions.

Stevenage lost last time out to Yeovil, but we are backing them to add to their two league wins so far on Saturday. That's mainly because Cambridge have lost four of their six games in league and cup football so far.

Formula One

Italian Grand Prix

Few will contest that the Ferrari is now unequivocally the fastest car on all but the slowest tracks, so the team's fabled home circuit of Monza should allow the scarlet machines to stretch their legs on some of the lowest-downforce stretches of tarmac on the calendar. Vettel is odds-on to take pole position for the first time this season but Raikkonen appeals at a far chunkier price. Each-way backers will see a return of 167 per cent of their total stake if the Finn qualifies second.

Rugby Union

Exeter Chiefs v Leicester Tigers (Saturday, 1630 BST)

Last season's beaten finalists Exeter have only opened a new campaign at home twice in their eight Premiership seasons, winning both. They have beaten Leicester 30-6; 31-10; and 19-6 in their last three league meetings at Sandy Park, but they are missing some of their most creative backs for this one, so their scoring potential could be slightly reduced from previous meetings. The Tigers have a stunning backline, so should score points, but their pack is far less powerful and cohesive, so that should prove the difference.

Rugby League

Super League - Castleford Tigers v Catalan Dragons (Saturday, 1930 BST)

After becoming rugby league's first ever foreign winners of the Challenge Cup, we expect the Catalans Dragons' party has yet to stop. Added to this, Castleford beat them 41-0 earlier in the season and, unlike their visitors, still have something to play for. Luke Gale, Ben Roberts and Adam Milner come back for the Tigers, while the Dragons are without four of their Wembley heroes. So there should be plenty of points for the hosts, and it seems a game for Paul McShane, a crafty, creative playmaker and runner.

Odds correct at 1700 on 31/8/18.
