Sky Bet Championship October Player & Manager Awards Nominees

Frank Lampard watches his Derby side in action
Frank Lampard watches his Derby side in action

Steve McClaren and Frank Lampard headline the nominees for the Sky Bet Championship Manager and Player of the Month Awards for October.

Former England boss McClaren has led a remarkable turnaround at QPR - where a dreadful start had him under intense pressure, while Lampard's Derby went unbeaten through October as they really started to hit their straps.

The duo are joined by Neil Harris of Millwall and Birmingham's Garry Monk - who is joined by his striker Lucas Jutkiewicz in being nominated for an award.

His five goals in October see him on the list alongside Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp, Norwich defender Timm Klose and Nottingham Forest midfielder Joe Lolley.

We will have exclusive video interviews with the winners right here on Sporting Life when they are revealed at 0600 GMT on Friday.

Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month nominees

Neil Harris (Millwall)

The passion he holds for Millwall had somehow dripped out of his side in the early weeks of the season. His genius was to re-instil it in his players without losing the dressing room. Ten points from five games was the result.

Frank Lampard (Derby County)

A first nomination for Lampard whose attractive side negotiated their way unbeaten to nine points from five difficult-looking games, which included playing four of the five teams above them. Pride of place was a 4-0 win at West Brom.

Steve McClaren (Queens Park Rangers)

The scrutiny was sharp and hurtful in late summer after a dreadful start, but McClaren quietly trusted his methods and his players to steer Rangers into the top half with an October haul of 13 points from five unbeaten games.

Garry Monk (Birmingham City)

October was the month in which Birmingham’s draws turned into wins – four of them in succession as Monk’s patience and cajoling of his players earned the reward of 13 points from five games to move into the top half.

Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month nominees

Lucas Jutkiewicz (Birmingham City) - striker

In the form of his Championship life, the striker demonstrated his prowess in the air with three towering headers among his five goals, which included a hat-trick against Rotherham. Also set up his side’s winning goal at Stoke.

Timm Klose (Norwich City) – central defender

The lynchpin of a Norwich defence which conceded just four goals in five games, the Swiss defender made a difference in the other box, too. Scored three goals from corners, two of them powerful headers, and had an assist against Brentford.

Joe Lolley (Nottingham Forest) - midfielder

A one-man shooting gallery in October. His three goals all found the net in a hurry – a low shot from distance against Millwall, a rapier-like strike at Middlesbrough, where he also contributed an assist, and another unerring effort at Bolton.

Billy Sharp (Sheffield United) – striker

Still living up to his name. Averaged a goal every 65 minutes in October with two predatory strikes against Blackburn and his first hat-trick for Sheffield United in 10 years against Wigan to take his side top of the Championship.

ALL WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON FRIDAY 9 OCTOBER 2018
