Ligue 1 is back with another round of fixtures this weekend, and Jake Osgathorpe has picked out his best bets.
1.5pts Rennes to beat Lorient and Over 1.5 Goals at 21/20 (bet365, William Hill)
1.5pts Lille to beat Nantes and Over 1.5 Goals at 11/10 (bet365)
Lorient are without a win in seven Ligue 1 games, and despite sitting 14th in the League table, rank as the worst team in the league based on xPoints.
Their xG process of 0.92 xGF and 1.60 xGA per game ranks them last also, making a hosting of in-form Rennes a troublesome game.
Issues at both ends need fixing or we could see Les Muerlus in serious relegation trouble.
Rennes are unbeaten in eight league games, winning six of those, and they have been the best team in the league over that period, racking up the most xPoints and boasting the best xG figures by a long way (2.24 xGF, 0.98 xGA per game).
If they continue in that vein of form, they will blow away a struggling Lorient side with relative ease.
The visitors are fairly short though, so adding in a few goals boosts the price nicely to odds against, making RENNES TO WIN AND OVER 1.5 GOALS a solid play.
Five of Rennes seven wins this term have come in this fashion, with four of Lorient's five defeats also seeing Over 1.5 Goals in the match.
Score prediction: Lorient 1-2 Rennes (Sky Bet odds: 13/2)
Champions Lille have had a poor start to the season from a results standpoint, currently sitting 12th in Ligue 1, but that isn't a fair reflection of how good they have been this term.
Based on expected points (xPoints), Les Dogues sit third, and they actually boast a better xG process (+8.2 xGD) than league leaders PSG (+8.1 xGD).
That tells us that, if they continue to perform in the same manner, their results will take a turn for the better and they will ascend the table.
Jocelyn Gourvennec's side have won three of six home games, losing one, but a home xG process of 1.75 xGF and 1.20 xGA per game shows how dominant they have been at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
Nantes are the visitors this weekend and they are winless in three, and three of their five wins this season have come against three of the current bottom four.
They are a mid-table side who struggle to beat the best teams, and Lille are still in that category despite their current league position.
Les Canaris are yet to keep a clean sheet on the road this term, managing just two in 14 Ligue 1 games, so Lille will fancy their chances of recording a much needed win.
The hosts are a tad skinny to back outright, so throwing a few goals into the mix to boost the price looks a good way in, making 11/10 about LILLE TO WIN AND OVER 1.5 GOALS the bet.
Only four of a combined 28 games between these sides have gone under 1.5 goals.
Score prediction: Lille 2-1 Nantes (Sky Bet odds: 7/1)
Odds correct at 1610 BST (26/11/21)
