Krychowiak apologises to Baggies boss

West Brom have fined midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak for his reaction to being substituted last week, manager Alan Pardew has announced.

The Poland international vented his fury at Pardew after being taken off in the second half of the Premier League bottom side's 4-1 home loss to Leicester.

Pardew now considers the matter dealt with and the 28-year-old will be back in contention for Saturday's trip to Bournemouth.

Pardew said: "Grzegorz came and apologised to me on Tuesday, and to my staff, which is unusual to be honest.

"I said sometimes an apology isn't quite enough, so I fined him and also said I don't ever want to see it again. The selection of the player won't be influenced after that. I told him how disappointed I was, fined him and we moved on.

"I actually really like him as a person and as a footballer and I was surprised at his action. I said, 'You need to see the start of the second half and if you see yourself you might have subbed yourself'. He had a little chuckle."

Conte in double target

Antonio Conte has told Chelsea to target lifting the FA Cup and qualifying for the Champions League before the season's end.

The Blues exited the Champions League at Barcelona on Wednesday and their final remaining trophy chance this term is the FA Cup, which resumes with Sunday's quarter-final at Leicester.

Chelsea are also fifth in the Premier League, four points behind fourth-placed Tottenham with eight games remaining.

Spurs are their next Premier League opponents on April 1 in a match crucial to Chelsea's hopes of a top-four finish and qualifying for Europe's elite competition next term.

"We have to try to do both," Conte said.

"To try to reach the semi-final in the FA Cup it won't be easy. Leicester is a good team. In the last game we played at home we suffered against them (drawing 0-0).

"Then to try to do our best also in the league, to find a place in the Champions League. It won't be easy."

Hazard on the way out?

Chelsea face a battle to keep Eden Hazard after being knocked out of the Champions League, according to the Mirror.

The paper says there is growing concern that the Belgium international could join keeper Thibaut Courtois and boss Antonio Conte in leaving the Blues this summer if they fail to achieve a top-four finish.

The 27-year-old has been at Chelsea since a switch from French outfit Lille in July 2012, going onto establish himself as one of the club's top talents.

  • Real Madrid - 13/8
  • Manchester City - 16/1
  • Manchester United - 16/1
  • Barcelona - 28/1
  • PSG - 28/1
  • To stay at Chelsea - 1/2
  • To leave Chelsea - 6/4

In total, Hazard has made 41 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring 15 goals and assisting a further 11.

Real Madrid have been linked with a potential move in the summer following a poor domestic campaign.

Zinedine Zidane's men are still in Europe's elite club competition though after knocking out French giants PSG in their last-16 match-up.

Pochettino: Dele Alli is best young player in the world

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino believes Dele Alli is the best young player in the world.

The 21-year-old, who will be expected to lead Spurs in Harry Kane's absence over the next few weeks, has been criticised for some of his performances this season.

Alli ended a 15-game goal drought when he bagged in the 4-1 win at Bournemouth on Sunday and has been given a glowing endorsement by his boss.

Pochettino says there is no other player in the world at Alli's age who can match his achievements, a bold statement when you consider the likes of Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus, Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele and Marcus Rashford.

"When you compare him, Dele Alli, 21 years old, with all the players in the world, not only in Europe, in the world, I think he is the best," the Argentinean said.

"In his age. In his form. Assists and everything. But, and I don't understand why, there is still that feeling [to criticise him]. For me, Dele Alli, for his age, is the best. That's it.

"Tell me one better than him, a 21-year-old, all that he achieves. Tell me one. A current player. Maybe you can find similar or better than him?

"For me he is the best because he is my player too, maybe I am not objective but for me, he is amazing, all that he is doing."
