🦅 BUTLAND JOINS PALACE

Jack Butland has joined Crystal Palace from Stoke after signing a three-year contract.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper renews his relationship with manager Roy Hodgson who handed him his England debut in 2012.

Butland’s arrival at Selhurst Park marks Hodgson’s fifth signing of the transfer window.

Butland has represented England on nine occasions but has not featured in the Premier League since he was relegated with Stoke in 2018.

“I’m very happy that the club has managed to acquire the signature of Jack to join us and compete for a place amongst our goalkeepers at the club,” said Hodgson.

“Jack is a player that I worked with for four years at England. I’ve always believed in Jack’s potential.”

🤝 And another one...

⏱ DEALS STILL GOING THROUGH

⚒ FINALLY!

West Ham have signed Said Benrahma on a season-long loan from Brentford.

Earlier on Friday, the temporary deal had been thrown into doubt after it was reported that Benrahma had failed his medical.

But the Hammers have confirmed the Algeria international will now be moving to the London Stadium until the end of the current campaign.

“I’m very, very happy to be a part of this team,” said Benrahma. “West Ham is a historic club, which has been in the Premier League for a very long time.

“It included and still includes good players. It’s a massive club in England.”

Manager Moyes added: “I’m delighted to welcome Said to West Ham United. He is a player who has had a lot of recognition for his performances with Brentford in the Championship.

“There has been a lot of interest shown in him so we are very pleased that he has decided to join us.”

💪 WALSALL AND OLDHAM DEALS

  • Walsall also added 20-year-old Bournemouth striker Jake Scrimshaw on loan from Bournemouth until January.

  • Oldham made a double deadline swoop to bring in Brice Ntambwe and Laurence Bilboe on one-year deals.

Belgian Ntambwe started his career in England with Birmingham but most recently played for Macclesfield. The 27-year-old defensive midfielder had been on trial with the Latics.

Bilboe, a 22-year-old goalkeeper, was released by Rotherham in the summer.

🏃‍♂️ LIVERPOOL YOUNGSTER JOINS ROVERS ON LOAN

Blackburn have signed Liverpool teenager Harvey Elliott on a season-long loan.

The promising 17-year-old signed his first professional contract with the Reds in July and has made nine appearances since joining from Fulham in the summer of 2019.

Following Liverpool’s exit from the Carabao Cup, future opportunities were limited for the England youth international so a decision was taken at Anfield to allow him to go on loan if the player wanted.

“Liverpool forward Harvey Elliott has joined Championship side Blackburn Rovers on loan for the remainder of the 2020-21 season,” said the Reds in a statement.

Elliott is the fourth arrival of the day at Ewood Park, following Middlesbrough goalkeeper Aynsley Pears, who has signed a four-year contract, and Leeds’ Barry Douglas and Norwich’s Tom Trybull, both on season-long loans.

🤝 MORE LEAGUE TWO NEWS

  • Birmingham forward Adan George has joined Walsall on loan.

The 18-year-old has played twice for Birmingham’s first team this season after signing his first professional contract in the summer.

Saddlers boss Darrell Clarke told the club website: “He’s fast, powerful and is capable of scoring goals so will be an exciting addition to the team.”
  • Carlisle have signed 19-year-old forward Micah Obiero on loan from Huddersfield until January.

😳 LATE DRAMA FOR FULHAM DEAL

🤔 BENRAHMA LATEST

According to The Athletic's David Ornstein:

"Clubs lodged deal sheet by 3pm to get extension to complete Benrahma deal by 7pm. Medical issue couldn’t be sorted in time for permanent deal so working on loan (£4m fee) with obligation to buy (£21m + £5m) on 5y contract."

✅ WINDOW CLOSED! AND THE MOVES ARE ROLLING IN!

🤝 WILSON COMPLETES CARDIFF MOVE

Cardiff have completed the signing of Liverpool midfielder Harry Wilson on loan.

The Reds ideally wanted a permanent deal for the 23-year-old this summer but, despite interest from Burnley, the £20million asking price proved too high.

Liverpool reconsidered their stance and, the PA news agency understands, the Bluebirds were the only ones to meet the financial package which includes a £1.2million loan fee and covering his full wages, with Swansea, Norwich, Derby – where Wilson spent a previous loan spell – and Nottingham Forest also in the running.

“I’m looking forward to getting started here,” the Wales international told cardiffcityfc.co.uk.

“We had a few clubs enquire about me but as soon as I heard Cardiff were interested it was a place I wanted to come.

“The Welsh connection was a massive part for me. When I come here, I feel at home. I think the team and facilities we have, everything is built for a Premier League team.

“I’m determined to come here and do my best to help the club get there.”

Wilson has made just two first-team appearances for Liverpool, a third-round FA Cup replay at Plymouth in January 2017 and in the Carabao Cup penalty shoot-out defeat to Arsenal earlier this month.

He had a loan spell at Bournemouth last season.

📝 NEW DEAL FOR INJURED LEEDS DEFENDER

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 RODON ON THE VERGE

Joe Rodon

Spurs have been tracking Swansea defender Joe Rodon for a while now and the Sky Bet Championship club's impending move for Ryan Bennett could allow Rodon to sign for Jose Mourinho's side.

The window is about to shut, but time will tell on whether they got the deal done in time.

📝 POGBA'S EXTENSION

Paul Pogba is congratulated after scoring against Aston Villa

Manchester United have triggered the extension clause in Paul Pogba’s contract, keeping the midfielder at the club until 2022.

The 27-year-old returned to Old Trafford from Juventus in a then world-record deal in 2016 and has been subject of regular speculation ever since.

Pogba’s Old Trafford contract was due to expire next summer but the PA news agency understands that United, as widely expected, have exercised their option to extend the deal by a further year.

The deal is believed to have been triggered before the World Cup winner fuelled talk about his future during the international break when he spoke up the idea of playing for Real Madrid one day.

Asked about those comments in Friday’s press conference previewing the trip to Newcastle, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “Paul’s our player, he’s going to be here for another two years and I’m sure Paul is focused on doing his best for us and we want to see the best of Paul.

“So, in the next couple of years I’m sure we’ll get the best out of him.”

🤝 DONE DEAL!

⏱ RACE AGAINST TIME!

📝 DOUBLE DONE DEALS

  • Forward Odin Bailey has joined Forest Green on loan from Birmingham for a second time.

The 20-year-old will stay at the New Lawn until January having been sidelined with an ankle injury last season when he marked his first loan spell at the Gloucestershire club with a goal in a 2-2 against Grimsby.

Forest Green’s director of football Rich Hughes said: “We’re really pleased to get Odin on board. There was a lot of competition for him, and he’ll give us a good option across the top of the pitch as well as the X-factor that fans will remember.”

Bailey has scored one goal in six appearances for Birmingham since making his debut in 2016.
  • Salford City have brought in Manchester United youth-team regular Di’Shon Bernard on loan until January.

The centre-back made his United first-team debut against FC Astana in the Europa League in 2019.

“I’m really happy to be here, it’s a different experience for me, the first time I’ve been in men’s football, and I just want to get going,” Bernard told the Salford website.

😊 BIELSA HAPPY WITH LEEDS' RECRUITMENT

Rodrigo (left) celebrates his goal against Man City

Marcelo Bielsa has declared himself “totally satisfied” with Leeds’ business during the summer transfer window.

Leeds have made four major new signings – Rodrigo, Robin Koch, Diego Llorente and Raphinha – and Bielsa confirmed there will be no further arrivals before Friday’s domestic transfer deadline.

Loan spells for Helda Costa and Illan Meslier were also turned into permanent deals and five more players were added to the Under-23s squad, taking Leeds’ total spending to around £100million since they won promotion.

“I’m totally satisfied,” Bielsa said. “I’m very grateful for the work that (director of football) Victor Orta has done and also the group that helps him.

“I also value the contribution of the club, the president has been able to incorporate the players that we needed.”

Barry Douglas and Robbie Gotts have headed out on respective loans to Blackburn and Lincoln until the end of the season, while Bielsa said he had been impressed by the quality of his new arrivals.

“This will be measured throughout the whole year, how much we have improved,” he said.

“Up until now Koch has been a continued presence in our team. Rodrigo is slowly increasing the minutes he contributes. Llorente and Raphinha have yet to play.

“In a league as long and demanding as the Premier League everyone will get the chance to show their qualities and contribute. This is also for the young players who arrived in the academy.”

Leeds’ £20m bid for Bayern Munich midfielder Michael Cuisance collapsed at the 11th hour due to a reported failed medical, but Bielsa insists he has all his bases covered.

“In the position of attacking midfielder, Pablo (Hernandez) can play there, Tyler Roberts can play there and Rodrigo,” he said.

“The defensive midfield position – (Kalvin) Phillips, Pascal (Struijk) and Koch can play there and eventually Diego Llorente as well.

“And the box-to-box midfield position, we have (Mateusz) Klich, (Stuart) Dallas, (Jamie) Shackleton and (Ezgjan) Alioski can play there. These are the options I see.”

📜 IN SHORT: LEAGUE TWO LATEST

The 2020/21 Sky Bet EFL ball
  • Stevenage have signed QPR forward Aramide Oteh on loan until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old has Championship, League One and League Two experience, with previous loan spells at Walsall and Bradford over the last two seasons.

Oteh told the Stevenage website: “The club have been interested in me for a while and the gaffer played a big part in my decision.”
  • Stevenage have also turned left-back Ben Coker’s move from Lincoln into a permanent one.
  • Grimsby have signed Nottingham Forest forward Virgil Gomis on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old striker is the second player from the Championship side to join the Mariners after Danny Preston, who joined the club on loan earlier in the transfer window.
  • Jamie Devitt has joined Newport on loan from Blackpool until January.

The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 midfielder told the club’s website: “When the opportunity came up I wanted to get it done as quickly as I could.

“The manager showed how much he wanted me, so I can only repay him by putting in good performances and helping the team get wins.”
  • Attacking midfielder Jake Hesketh has joined Crawley on a season-long loan from Premier League Southampton.

The 24-year-old made his Saints first-team debut in 2014 and has spent previous loan spells at Burton, MK Dons and Lincoln.

Barrow have moved to bring in 19-year-old forward Jayden Reid on loan from Championship side Birmingham until the start of January.
  • Scunthorpe have announced winger Ryan Colclough has left the club by mutual consent.

📈 PARKER WANTS TO SEE THE BEST FROM RLC

Ruben Loftus-Cheek celebrates scoring for Chelsea

Fulham manager Scott Parker has backed Ruben Loftus-Cheek to succeed this season at Craven Cottage, hailing his “huge potential” following his loan move from Chelsea.

The 24-year-old had been struggling to find consistent playing time at Stamford Bridge after the coronavirus pandemic disrupted his return from an Achilles tendon injury.

The Cottagers are currently rooted to the foot of the Premier League table with no points from their first four matches, but Parker believes England midfielder Loftus-Cheek can give the squad a boost.

“He’s settled in really well,” the Fulham boss said.

“He’s come into the club from around the corner really, so from those dynamics it’s been a pretty easy transition for him, he’s still living in the same house so that’s really good.

“Obviously as a player and as a boy he’s been first class. We’ve now had a good 10 days with him and he’s worked hard and we’ve brought him here because we feel like he can help us, help the team and I’m sure he’ll have a big season with us this year.”

Loftus-Cheek was limited to nine appearances for Chelsea in the 2019-20 season following his return from injury, of which just two were starts.

When asked whether the move to Fulham was also an opportunity for the player, Parker said: “Yeah I do. I think you’re right in saying he’s got huge potential.

“He now needs to be consistent with that and take that step and I feel we can offer him something here and we can help develop him as well of course and give him a platform where if he does the right thing and shows his quality.

“We can give him Premier League football and we also feel like we can nurture him and develop him and help him get to where he needs to get to.”

💪 BARTON ADDS TO BACKLINE

Fleetwood have made the deadline-day loan signing of Blackburn defender Charlie Mulgrew.

The 34-year-old, who has made over 450 appearances in his career for Celtic, Rovers, Aberdeen, Wigan and Scotland, will spend the remainder of the season at Highbury.

🕹 DONCASTER'S SIMS DEAL

Doncaster have signed midfielder Josh Sims from Southampton on loan until January.

The 23-year-old has made 20 Premier League appearances for Saints and has spent previous loan spells with Reading and New York Red Bulls.

Sims told his new club’s website: “I’m delighted now it’s all gone through, it’s something that I’ve been looking forward to and the way Doncaster play is ideal for me.”

👀 ARGYLE SIGN ABRAHAM!

Plymouth, meanwhile, have brought in Fulham striker Timmy Abraham on a similar deal on the last day of the domestic transfer window.

The 19-year-old is the younger brother of Chelsea and England star Tammy and joins fellow Fulham youngster Jerome Opoku at Home Park.

Elsewhere, Lincoln have released striker Jordan Adebayo-Smith by mutual consent. He made just one professional appearance in the EFL Trophy.

🦉 FLINT JOINS OWLS

👍 PALACE CONFIRM BUTLAND INTEREST

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has confirmed that the club are in talks with Stoke over the signing of Jack Butland.

The Eagles are in need of goalkeeper cover after Wayne Hennessey sustained a heel injury on international duty with Wales.

Palace are also believed to be considering a move for Charlton's Dillon Phillips should the deal for Butland not come off.

🤞 MOYES HOPEFUL ON BENRAHMA

West Ham boss David Moyes says Said Benrahma hasn't failed a medical, and he is still hopeful of bringing him in before 5pm.

The Hammers had a £30m offer for the Brentford winger accepted earlier this week, but the deal appears to have hit a snag.

“No that’s not correct he hasn’t failed his medical and we are still hopeful that something can be done later today possibly but I just can’t guarantee that at this moment in time," said Moyes.

“It’s one of those things that you don’t talk about people’s medicals because that’s something that has to be done and its private as it would be for anybody. So I am not going to discuss his medical but we still have hope that we can get it done today.

“These things happen in football they happen all the time – but we’ll see.”

🗣 BLACKBURN ASK ABOUT ELLIOTT

Blackburn have made an approach to sign Liverpool teenager Harvey Elliott on loan as they look to make the forward their third signing of the day.

Rovers have already completed loan deals for Leeds full-back Barry Douglas and Norwich midfielder Tom Trybull.

📜 NEW DEAL FOR MCNEIL

🏥 BENRAHMA DEAL IN DOUBT

Said Benrahma's £30m move from Brentford to West Ham could be in doubt, with Sky Sports News reporting that there were issues with his medical.

The Algeria international had looked set to complete the formalities of the deal before the 5pm deadline after the Bees accepted a bid earlier this week.

⏳ SPURS IN RODON RACE

Tottenham are running out of time if they want to sign Wales defender Joe Rodon.

They remain in talks with Swansea, but the clubs are believed to be a long way apart in terms of valuation.

🙏 DYCHE HAS FAITH IN SQUAD

Burnley boss Sean Dyche has emphasised the belief he has in the players at the club as the transfer window’s two-week extension draws to a close.

The Clarets, beaten in each of the opening three games of their Premier League campaign, made just two signings between the end of last term and the deadline of October 5 – Dale Stephens from Brighton and Will Norris from Wolves.

Dyche said he did not envisage any further additions before 5pm.

“I do believe in the group we’ve got. There is a lot of talk about the markets. Did we want to sign players? Yes. Is that a challenge ongoing? Yes. But do I believe in the squad we’ve got? Yes.

“And when they’re all fit, it looks different. All of a sudden the bench and first XI looks better and it all looks a bit rosier.”

✍ BLACKBURN MAKE IT TWO

Blackburn have followed up the signing of Barry Douglas from Leeds by bringing in midfielder Tom Trybull from fellow Sky Bet Championship side Norwich.

Like Douglas, he has joined on a season-long loan deal.

👀 BARNSLEY SIGN KANE!

If only... that would get more people watching the Sky Bet Championship.

But it's still some signing for the Tykes as Liverpool midfielder Herbie Kane has joined them for £1.25m, agreeing a four-year deal.

The 21-year-old has previously had loan spells with Doncaster and Hull.

✍ WILSON SET TO JOIN CARDIFF

Cardiff appear to have won the race to sign Liverpool midfielder Harry Wilson on loan, the PA news agency understands.

The Reds ideally wanted a permanent deal for the 23-year-old this summer but, despite interest from Burnley, the £20million asking price proved too high.

With little chance of first-team football, Liverpool have had to reconsider their stance and although the likes of Swansea, Norwich, Derby – where Wilson spent a previous loan spell – and Nottingham Forest were in the running, Cardiff are the only ones to meet the financial package which includes a £1.2m loan fee and covering his full wages.

⚔ QUIET DAY FOR BLADES

✍ ROVERS SIGN DOUGLAS

Leeds full-back Barry Douglas has joined Blackburn Rovers on loan to the end of the season.

The Scotland international will then be out of contract at Elland Road.

After making a great start to his Leeds career following a move from Wolves in 2018, Douglas suffered repeated injuries and was never able to regain his place in the team.

🐏 ➡ 🦉

🔴 BORO BID FOR BOLASIE

Middlesbrough are in talks with Everton to sign winger Yannick Bolasie.

The DR Congo international has fallen well down the pecking order at Goodison and has spent the last two years on loan at Anderlecht and Sporting Lisbon.

If a deal could be done, it would reunite Bolasie with Boro boss Neil Warnock after the pair worked together at Crystal Palace.

🐉 WILSON HEADING FOR CARDIFF

Cardiff look to have won the race to sign Liverpool midfielder Harry Wilson on loan.

The Wales international has been a man in demand, with up to five Sky Bet Championship clubs thought to have expressed an interest.

He spent last season with Bournemouth and the 2018/19 at Derby.

👑 KING STAYING PUT... FOR NOW

Bournemouth boss Jason Tindall says there have been no offers for Joshua King yet, despite lots of rumoured interest.

West Ham are the club to have been most strongly linked with the Norway forward, but several Premier League clubs are thought to hold an interest.

Bournemouth rejected offers from Manchester United during the January transfer window.

🤝 LIVERPOOL AGREE KANE DEAL

...no, not that.

Liverpool midfielder Herbie Kane is on his way to Barnsley for £1.25m.

Kane spent the second half of last season on loan at Hull but it was disrupted by serious injury, and had a successful campaign at Doncaster in 2018/19.

👀 ICYMI - BAGGIES SIGN STRIKER

Karlan Grant completed his move to West Brom on Thursday night and goes straight into the squad to face Burnley on Monday night.

The 23-year-old striker scored 19 goals for Huddersfield last season and becomes the Baggies’ ninth signing of this window.

Grant said: “I’m 100% confident I can score goals in the Premier League. I’m a striker and I like to score goals. I’ve scored goals for the last few years and I want to carry on doing that."

That's good then!

✈ MOSES HEADS FOR MOSCOW

Chelsea midfielder Victor Moses has completed a loan move to Spartak Moscow.

The 29-year-old will join the Russian side on a temporary switch until the end of the campaign.

Moses, who spent spells on loan with Fenerbahce and Inter Milan last season, is not in favour with Blues boss Frank Lampard.

The Nigerian has not played for Chelsea in more than two years and his move to Russia marks his sixth spell away from Stamford Bridge after he arrived in 2012.

💰 SPURS FORCED TO SPEND BIG

We don't say this often but Tottenham could spend big today, but typically it would only be due to forced necessity than desire.

Swansea City want £18m for their highly-rated centre-back Joe Rodon and with Premier League club facing a high defensive injury list, they might have to agree to such big stakes.

🧤 PALACE LINE UP BUTLAND

Do you remember Jack Butland? Yeah, the goalkeeper pushing to be England's number one that's not been heard of since Stoke's relegation to the Sky Bet Championship three seasons ago.

Most, including Butland himself, expected to be snapped by straight away by a Premier League club but the move never happened and, quite frankly, Butland's form ever since has been somewhat iffy.

But now Crystal Palace could give the stopper a way back to the big time with a late bid today.

🍻 ENJOYING A FOSTER (S)

Watford keeper Ben Foster could be on his way to Anfield

Yes, we are trying to make a reference to the beer as an attempt at a clever headline. Reports suggest Liverpool could turn to Watford number one - the former England stopper - Ben Foster to replace the struggling Adrian.

Seems a smart move as Foster was one of the stand out Premier League performers last season despite Watford's relegation. But would be prefer to stay as a first choice keeper somewhere and make the most of his remaining playing days, rather be a bench warmer?

DEADLINE DEJA VU

Haven't we been here already? Yes, 11 days ago we had deadline day and today we have another.

This is domestic deadline day because, as we all know, we don't like to do what the rest of Europe do. So Friday sees the final day that English clubs can move players between themselves.

International deadline day was, well, very uninspiring, so we don't expect the fires to suddenly be lit for this one. However, with big clubs failing to land some of their big targets last week, their Plan B's could be executed today with a raid of the EFL.

Remember Premier League clubs cannot do business between themselves, only with the EFL.

Let's see what happens....

➡ LEEDS' GOTTS HEADS TO LINCOLN

🔵 GRANT SET FOR £15M BAGGIES MOVE

Huddersfield striker Karlan Grant is having a medical at West Brom and expected to join the club for £15m before tomorrow's domestic transfer deadline.

He should be eligible to make his debut for the Premier League strugglers when they face Burnley on Monday night.

🦢 REDS REJECT SWANS WILSON BID

Swansea have had a loan offer for Liverpool midfielder Harry Wilson turned down.

The Wales international is expected to make a move to the Sky Bet Championship before tomorrow's deadline.

But having spent the past two seasons out on loan it's thought the Premier League champions want to include an option or obligation to buy in any deal.

😲 BLUES PLAN HAALAND SWOOP?

Chelsea are reportedly keen to sign Norwegian goal machine Erling Haaland - with Roman Abramovich apparently determined to buy all the good young players in the Bundesliga.

The Borussia Dortmund star scores goals for fun and we'd love to see him in the Premier League - it already looks like he'll be a big name for the January window.

⛔ SANCHO NO-GO

Borussia Dortmund won't be selling Jadon Sancho in January - so Manchester United fans can forget about him moving to Old Trafford in the next window, which opening in just a couple of months now!

🤝 PALACE SIGN CLYNE

Defender Nathaniel Clyne has rejoined Crystal Palace on a short-term deal eight years after he left Selhurst Park.

The right-back, who has been training with the squad after being released by Liverpool, made 137 appearances for the Eagles between 2008 and 2012.

“I’m a London boy, this is where I grew up. I’m back home and all my family and friends are here,” he told cpfc.co.uk.

“It’s surreal being back, enjoying it and hopefully I can just crack on and enjoy my football again.”

Clyne earned his first England call-up under current Palace manager Roy Hodgson and made 14 international appearances.

Chairman chairman Steve Parish said: “Nathaniel is a fantastic character to have around this squad and we are delighted to secure his services for the upcoming period.

“He is a first-rate professional, just as he was when I first met him more than a decade ago. His presence and experience will be invaluable.”

⚒ BENRAHMA MOVING CLOSER

West Ham have agreed a deal with Brentford for Said Benrahma, who is now closing in on a move to the Hammers with personal terms now being discussed.

He should have a medical in the next 24 hours if they can agree on the terms, with the aim to close the deal before the deadline on Friday.

The former Atletico Madrid man could make his Gunners debut against Manchester City on Saturday.

"It's a great challenge. I want to experience new challenges. I'm ready to give it my all and help the club get back to where it belongs."

💰 DEMBELE DEAL TO BE HAD

One or two reports this morning that Ousmane Dembele might be available for a cut-price £45m, he signed for around £100m remeber but has had big injury problems.

Man Utd had been interested as a Jadon Sancho replacement, but the 23-year-old Frenchman failed to move during the transfer window.

It's one to watch for January though, with Barca in big financial trouble and looking to cut their hefty wage bill...

🎩 BOYD LEAVES POSH

George Boyd has left Peterborough after his contract was cancelled due to salary cap regulations.

The 35-year-old midfielder rejoined Posh in July 2019 following his release by Sheffield Wednesday but managed just 25 appearances and one goal.

Boyd agreed to cancel the remainder of his deal and boss Darren Ferguson told the club’s website: “With the new salary cap regulations, we just couldn’t find a way of fitting George into it.

“I want to thank George for his service to the football club. It has been an absolute privilege to manage him, he has been an outstanding professional and I wish him all the very best in the future.

“I have absolutely no doubt that he will be a success in whatever he does. He is one of the best players I have managed and will ever manage, there is no doubt about that.”

Peterborough co-owner Darragh MacAnthony said: “George has been a wonderful player for this football club and has handled himself superbly throughout his time.

“There is no question that he will be inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame for all he has achieved here.”

🤝 CRAWLEY BRING IN MIDFIELDER

Crawley have signed former Southend midfielder Henry Burnett on a one-year deal.

Burnett was a regular for Southend’s Under-23s last season before completing the campaign on loan at Tonbridge Angels.

He was released by Southend at the end of the season but has been offered a chance by Crawley after impressing in training.

Head Coach John Yems said on the club website: “We are delighted to welcome Henry to the club, he has impressed us over the last few weeks and during the friendly with Watford in pre-season.

“I wish him all the best during his time at the club.”

🚪 UNITED READY FOR POGBA EXIT

Manchester United are putting plans in place should Paul Pogba decide to leave Old Trafford. They would replace him with Rennes and France's Eduardo Camavinga.

However Real Madrid are also interested in the midfielder.

👑 HAMMERS MOVE FOR KING

West Ham look to have changed targets, dropping their pursuit of long term target Said Benrahma of Brentford and instead going after Bournemouth striker Josh King.

🛑 SALIBA STAYING A GUNNER

There's bad news for Fulham fans as target William Saliba now looks likely to stay at Arsenal. The Gunners are set to make a surprise U-turn on the player and keep him at the club.

🥊 KANTE LAMPARD FALL OUT

This comes after falling out with Blue boss Frank Lampard over a wedding and blocking his dream move to Real Madrid

📰 TUESDAY PAPER TALK

The latest football gossip and transfer rumours

Some of the early morning gossip on this Tuesday includes...

  • The Premier League opponents to Project Big Picture (PBP) have declared it "dead in the water"
  • Manchester City are set to go back in for Nicolas Tagliafico this January
  • Roy Keane has emerged as the leading candidate to become the next Salford manager after Graham Alexander was sacked on Monday

😲 INTER WANT AGUERO FOR FREE

Sounds a bit fanciful right? Well, the free bit is certainly real as Sergio Aguero's current Man City deal expires next summer and if he gets much further along without signing a new one then the vultures will soon be circling.

And Italian side Inter are already casting an eye on the Argentinian according to reports in the UK and over in Italy - just one to keep an eye on for now..

⚒ HAMMERS HOPE FOR DAWSON

West Ham are hoping to make a late splash before this deadline day having seemingly missed the memo on the last one...and that includes bringing in defender Craig Dawson.

The Hammers are thought to be in talks with Watford over the centre half, who would bring more experience into David Moyes' side.

Moyes had obviously targeted James Tarkowski over the summer but West Ham couldn't afford Burnley's asking price, so Dawson may be the man to fill that gap.

👀 HORNETS EYE UP BENNETT BID

Cardiff left-back Joe Bennett is attracting interest from Watford as we near the end of the window.

The 30-year-old has just one year left on his current Bluebirds contract but has been heavily involved already having started three of their four league games this season.

💰 £30M BENRAHMA HEADING FOR HAMMERS

Said Benrahma is reportedly close to joining West Ham, with the winger set to have a medical later this week after Brentford accepted a £30m offer.

✍ DE BRUYNE OPEN TO NEW DEAL

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is open to signing a new contract at the club.

The Belgium international, who will be in the side to play England at Wembley on Sunday, has been a key part of City’s success over the last few years and has won a host of club honours and individual awards.

He has two-and-a-half years to run on his current deal and reports suggest he is poised to extend that.

De Bruyne said nothing is imminent, but did tell City he is happy to discuss terms.

“I am very happy at the club, I can say now I have not spoken once to the club so I don’t know why people are saying I have already agreed to something,” he said.

“I always told everybody I am really happy at the club and I feel comfortable so if the people at the club want to talk to me I am open to that and we will see what happens.

“But at the moment nothing has happened so I just get on with the way it goes.”

Lionel Messi has been linked with a move to Man City

City have also been linked with Lionel Messi next season, should the Argentinian move on from Barcelona.

City are an obvious choice given Pep Guardiola is their manager, but De Bruyne is nonplussed about the speculation.

“I don’t really care to be honest,” he added. “If he comes it’s a good thing, if he doesn’t there is enough good players at the club who I enjoy playing with, so that is not for now.”

🤔 GIROUD TO CONSIDER CHELSEA FUTURE

Olivier Giroud says he could leave Chelsea in January if he doesn't get more game-time.

The France striker has played just once in the Premier League this season after dropping down the pecking order following a summer of big spending at Stamford Bridge.

“I’ve been close to moving to Serie A," he told RMC Sport.

“They appreciated experienced players there, but the transfer didn’t materialise. For the future we will see what happens. I will decide by evaluating the opportunities I will have.

“I’m not ruling out anything, but for now I don’t see me returning to Ligue 1. I’d like to play at the highest level in Europe for another two or three years, then maybe I’ll go to the United States.”

👀 WILSHERE TO RANGERS?

Jack Wilshere would be willing to consider a reunion with Steven Gerrard if the Rangers boss decides to make a move for his former England team-mate, the PA news agency reports.

Wilshere is a free agent after agreeing to terminate his West Ham contract last week. Speculation has been running rife in Glasgow amid rumours he could be tempted north, with Gers reported to be interested.

But while no-one from Ibrox has yet been in touch with the 28-year-old’s representatives, Wilshere would be keen to hear what his boyhood idol Gerrard has to say.

A source close to the former Arsenal star told PA: “Rangers would be an option for Jack if there had been any contact. So far, however, there hasn’t been any.

“Jack thinks Rangers are a great club. They tried to take him on loan when Walter Smith was in charge back in 2010 just as he was starting out at Arsenal but he ended up going to Bolton.”

✍️ COLCHESTER WELCOME STRIKER

Colchester have announced the signing of striker Josh Bohui.

The 21-year-old, who is in the squad to face Walsall on Saturday, mutually terminated his contract with NAC Breda earlier this week after moving to Holland in 2019.

Before that Bohui spent three years in the youth set-up at Manchester United following the disbandment of the Brentford Academy.

He made three appearances for England Under-17s during the 2015-16 season and remains eligible for both France and Ivory Coast.

📝 LATICS LAND KEANE

Wigan have signed free agent striker Will Keane on a short-term contract.

The 27-year-old left Ipswich in May and has been training with Latics throughout pre-season, representing them in friendlies against Bolton and Bradford.

The club have now agreed an initial three-month deal which will keep Keane at the club until January 2021.

👊 GUENDOUZI NOT GIVING UP

Matteo Guendouzi insists his Arsenal career is not over, after leaving joining Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin on a season-long loan deal on deadline day.

Having initially impressed at Arsenal following his move from Lorient in 2018, the 21-year-old had not featured for the Gunners this season. He hasn't kicked a ball for Mikel Arteta’s side since a post-match clash with Brighton striker Neal Maupay after Arsenal lost to the Seagulls on June 20.

Speaking after captaining France’s Under-21s to a 5-0 win over Liechtenstein on Thursday, Guendouzi said his time at Arsenal is not at an end.

“It is not that, I just really needed to play this year, a new challenge,” he told reporters.

“That was the most important thing for me. I am still young, I am only 21, so playing time was the top priority for me."

👑 KING HEADING FOR HAMMERS?

West Ham are looking to sign Bournemouth striker Joshua King before next Friday's deadline.

The Norway international was denied a move to Manchester United in January because the Cherries wanted him to help their ultimately forlorn battle against the drop.

Now the Sky Bet Championship club are willing to sell King, whose contract expires next summer.

✂ WHO MADE THE CUT?

There were some noticeable absentees from the final 24-man squads for this season's Champions League and Europa League group stages, which could be clues over potential exits.

Xherdan Shaqiri was given the thumbs up by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, but Harry Wilson missed out after a much-vaunted move to Burnley never came through on deadline day.

Leeds were also strongly linked with the Wales midfielder throughout the transfer window, but he now may have to look to the Sky Bet Championship for a loan move.

Wilson has spent the past two season away from Anfield, first in the Championship with Derby before suffering relegation from the Premier League with Bournemouth last term.

At Arsenal, Mesut Ozil was left out of their Europa League squad but he won't be playing in the second tier any time soon.

But Mikel Arteta has said they're looking into a loan move to the Championship for defender William Saliba after a deal to return to former club Saint Etienne temporarily for a second season fell through on Monday.

Fellow centre-back Sokratis has also been sidelined, but it's unlikely anyone outside the Premier League could afford his wages.

🧤 REDS SIGN NEW KEEPER

Liverpool have signed another goalkeeper, but Adrian can rest easy as he's not a direct challenger for him with 17-year-old Brazilian Marcelo Pitaluga still a long way from the finished article.

🗣 CUISANCE DENIES LEEDS RUMOURS

🔴 GUNTER JOINS CHARLTON

Wales' most-capped player Chris Gunter has joined Charlton on a two-year contract.

The right back, 31, was a free agent after leaving Reading at the end of last season.

Gunter has won 97 caps for his country and is in the Wales squad for tonight's friendly with England at Wembley.

✍ BEN ARFA SIGNS FOR BORDEAUX

Former Newcastle, Hull and PSG playmaker Hatem Ben Arfa has joined Bordeaux on a free transfer.

The Frenchman, 33, has signed a one-year contract after leaving Spanish side Real Valladolid in the summer.

🧤 CHAPMAN JOINS MOTHERWELL

Motherwell have signed former Peterborough goalkeeper Aaron Chapman.

The 30-year-old 6ft 7in keeper arrives as cover for Trevor Carson after a knee injury ruled Scott Fox out for the season.

Manager Stephen Robinson told the club’s official website: “Aaron comes in to give us experienced cover and competition for Trevor. He has played a high number of games at a good level in England, so will prove a valuable addition.

“Importantly, this will also open the door for us to put PJ Morrison on loan. We want to do that so he can gain valuable experience at first-team level and we hope to announce a move for him shortly.

“That is vitally important for all young players but especially goalkeepers, who have a limited opportunity.”

📺 WIJNALDUM PLAYS DOWN BARCA LINK

Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has downplayed interest from Barcelona during the summer transfer window, but he did admit that things could change and leaving Anfield is a possibility.

Wijnaldum's contract with the Premier League champions expires next summer.

🦢 RODON A WANTED MAN

Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham will be involved in a fight to sign Swansea centre-back Joe Rodon, with both clubs weighing up making a bid. £18m is thought to be the price the clubs are willing to play for the 22-year-old.

The English Football League transfer deadline is October 16.

👀 REDS & BAYERN EYE SANCHO

It does seem like it was a noe or never job for Jadon Sancho to Man Utd, especially the way they've started this season. The feeling is that if he leaves next summer then he'll want to move elsewhere.

Liverpool and Bayern Munich are now seen as likelier destinations for Sancho next summer after Manchester United's failure to secure his signing this time around.

🏆 GOTZE GETS PSV MOVE

It's strange how a World Cup winner, just 28, found himself without a club, but Mario Gotze has now joined PSV Eindhoven on a two-year deal after his contract with Borussia Dortmund ended.

He's a great free transfer signing.

“We had some nice talks and I seriously considered making a move to the Netherlands,” Gotze told the club’s website after a number of conversations with head coach Roger Schmidt.

“I had a lot of offers this summer but I am a man of feeling and making my own decisions.

“I feel I am ready for a very different challenge and I am confident that this should be a very comfortable transition for me.”

The 63-time capped German international and World Cup winner had limited opportunities at Dortmund last season, making just 21 appearances.

👀 WILSHERE FOR RANGERS?

Steven Gerrard could offer Jack Wilshere the chance to kick-start his career up in Scotland with Rangers reportedly ready to sign him on a free transfer.

Depending on wages, this could be a great move for both parties as Wilshere gets the chance to prove his form and fitness and Rangers could get a quality player for free.

  • Arsenal defender William Saliba could join a Championship club on loan in the coming weeks.
  • Jesse Lingard could still be in line for a Manchester United exit, with Porto reportedly eyeing a season-long loan deal for the out-of-favour midfielder.
