Burnley's miserable start to the Premier League campaign continued as Chelsea secured a comfortable 3-0 victory at Turf Moor.
Hakim Ziyech marked his first Premier League start with a goal in the first-half before Kurt Zouma netted his third of the campaign around the hour mark.
Ziyech then turned provider ten minutes later when he claimed the assist as Timo Werner made it three to secure all three points for Frank Lampard's men. Werner was originally named on the bench but came in for Christian Pulisic who was injured in the warm-up.
It was a deserved victory for the visitors, who had nine shots on target while Burnley failed to post one.
Burnley actually had the first real opportunity of the game after just five minutes. Matt Lowton's long ball found a gap between Chelsea’s centre-backs, allowing Ashley Barnes to go one-on-one with Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy. He rushed out but Barnes lifted his shot high over the crossbar.
Chelsea then had a penalty appeal turned down when Ben Chilwell rushed through to meet Reece James’ cross at the far post and felt a push in the back from Josh Brownhill. Despite one missed opportunity, the Blues took the lead in the 27th minute, after good work down the right wrong-footed Sean Dyche’s side.
Ziyech exchanged passes with Reece James who looked to find Tammy Abraham with the cross. The forward cleverly spotted Ziyech, touching the ball back to the Morocco international who drilled low past Nick Pope.
Burnley were getting into some better positions in the second-half as they pushed for the leveller but they will have been frustrated to concede from a set-piece to make it 2-0 on 63 minutes. Mason Mount whipped in a corner from the right and Zouma got the better of three defenders to power home a bullet header.
Less than ten minutes later, Chelsea grabbed a third. Ashley Westwood’s misplaced pass was pounced upon by James who, as happened in the first-half, linked up nicely with Ziyech. He found Werner’s overlapping run and the subsequent shot was smashed into the far corner.
The result moved Chelsea up to fourth in the Premier League table, although they have played a game more than those around them. Burnley, meanwhile, prop up the division with just one point coming from their opening six games.
The Clarets travel to Brighton in their final game before the next international break while Chelsea host another struggling side in Sheffield United after a midweek clash with Rennes in the Champions League.
