Chris Wilder staying grounded as Sheffield United close in on promotion

Manager Chris Wilder has urged his players to keep calm and carry on after Sheffield United edged closer towards the Premier League with a 3-0 victory at Hull on Monday.

With two Sky Bet Championship games remaining, Wilder's men remain in control of their own destiny, currently second in the table, sitting just three points behind leaders Norwich City.

It comes after a magnificent Easter for the Blades. Going into the Bank Holiday weekend Wilder's outfit were third in the table, sitting three points behind second placed Leeds United and six off Norwich, having drawn their previous two matches, including conceding an injury time equaliser to relegation threaten Millwall.

However the Bramall Lane side got back to winning ways on Good Friday with a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest, before their hammering of Hull.

That, coupled with Norwich's two Easter draws - making it four draws in a row - and a defeats to Wigan and Brentford for Leeds, has seen the South Yorkshire club move up to second and on to 85 points.

More impressively they've managed it without the injured Chris Basham and Billy Sharp.

"We've not taken any short-cuts and we needed a big weekend," said Wilder

"Our preparation was good. To win games at the top end of the Championship you've got to tick a lot of boxes, and we ticked a lot of boxes.

"The position speaks for itself - 85 points with two games to go.

"We've just to get our heads down and recover well. We're in (training) tomorrow and we've just got to make sure we prepare in the right way.

"We need to focus and make sure we take the opportunity on Saturday (at home to Ipswich). We are playing at a decent standard. We are in good nick."
