Fleetwood boss Joey Barton reportedly 'assaulted' Barnsley counterpart Daniel Stendel in tunnel brawl

Joey Barton could find himself in hot water after reportedly assaulting Barnsley counterpart Daniel Stendel in a tunnel brawl following his side's defeat at Oakwell.

Sky Sports report that police are investigating the former Manchester City and Newcastle player for his part in a clash which saw both him and Stendel separated by stewards and police.

Barton saw his side slip to a 4-2 defeat against the promotion chasers in a match which saw Fleetwood's Harry Souttar sent off in the second half.

Barnsley forward Cauley Woodrow, who scored in the game, quickly took to Twitter, saying: "Firstly @ftfc to have a manager that can physically assault another manager in the tunnel is disgusting, causing our manager to have blood pouring from his face!! People like you don’t deserve a place in the game of football you are foul. Secondly fantastic win today @BarnsleyFC"

However the player later deleted the tweet.
