Sam Allardyce says he's not been contacted by WBA about their manager's position

Sam Allardyce insists he has not been in contact with West Bromwich Albion over their vacant manager's position.

The former England boss remains out of work since leaving Everton last summer and has been linked with the job in several national newspapers this week. He's also been made the favourite to land the job with many bookies, currently 8/11 with Sky Bet.

However the 64-year-old insists working for the Sky Bet Championship club is not currently on his radar.

Speaking as guest host on TalkSport's Breakfast show Allardyce said: "I've had no contact from West Brom at all, and neither has my agent.

"I really don't know where this is coming from, it is just rumour. I'm really surprised to be told I'm favourite for the job and read in the papers I'm just about to accept their offer.

"I'm actually going on holiday on April 3 and will be in Thailand for a few weeks. So I'm not sure I'd do a very good job for WBA being out there."

Next WBA manager Sky Bet Odds

  • Sam Allardyce - 8/11
  • James Shan - 2/1
  • Alex Neil - 7/2
  • Gary Rowett - 16/1
  • Slavisa Jokanovic - 20/1
  • Aitor Karanka - 25/1
  • David Moyes - 25/1
  • David Wagner - 25/1

Equally when pushed, Allardyce did not rule himself out of the job if WBA were to approach him.

"They are an excellent club, with great fans and very good players. They are up there pushing for promotion and that shows the good state they are in."

"I'm certainly not ruling myself in or out of anything at the moment."
