Ryan Pringle, Jack Burnham and Stuart Poynter have signed new contract extensions to give Durham a lift in the week it was announced Paul Coughlin would be leaving at the end of the season.
The news of Coughlin's move to Nottinghamshire prompted Durham chairman Sir Ian Botham to publicly urge the England and Wales Cricket Board to introduce a proper transfer system to prevent clubs from losing talent without financial reward.
But off-spinner Pringle, highly-rated batsman Burnham and Irish international Poynter have all opted to remain in the north-east although the lengths of their deals have not been disclosed.
Durham head coach Jon Lewis said: "Ryan, Jack and Stuart have all proved their potential at various parts of the season and next season is a chance for them all to step up and become a key part of the side in all three formats."
