England all-rounder Moeen Ali hit a quickfire 26 to help Royal Challengers Bangalore to a dramatic one-run victory against Chennai Super Kings.
Ali, batting at six, came in during the 16th over and hit five boundaries in 16 balls to record the second-highest score for Bangalore, only bettered by man-of-the-match Parthiv Patel's 53 in a total of 161 for seven from their 20 overs.
Ali did not bowl for the hosts, who looked set for a comfortable win with the Super Kings needing 49 runs from the final three overs before Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who finished unbeaten on 84, almost inspired a stunning comeback.
Chennai hit 23 runs in the next two overs and still needed 26 from the final six balls, but Dhoni smashed three sixes and a four - in addition to a two - from the first five deliveries to leave the Super Kings needing two off the final ball for an unlikely victory.
However, the Chennai captain missed Umesh Yadav's final ball and in search of the run to take the match to a super over, Shardul Thakur was run out as Bangalore snatched victory.
