ALEXANDER GETS HIS BRITISH TITLE CHANCE

Promoter Frank Warren has, once again, delivered a title chance to one of his boxers by easily winning the rights to stage Ensley Bingham's next defence of his British Light-Middleweight title against Croydon's hard punching Wayne Alexander.

The fight will be added to the undercard of Joe Calzaghe's forthcoming defence of his WBO crown, versus Omar Sheika, at the Kingsway Centre, Widnes on Saturday 6th November 1999.

So confident was the promoter that he would win the rights to this contest, at a purse offer ceremony held at the Board of Control, today, that Bingham was given seven weeks notice, in writing, to be ready for the date.

Warren said today "Once again I have delivered my boxer a title chance and I have every confidence that Alexander will beat Bingham and become British champion. Furthermore, Bingham, as always under my promotion, will receive another big pay-day."

An excited Alexander said; "Frank promised me he would deliver this fight on 6th November and he has. I even stood down from an Area title fight in July to let Bingham defend against my opponent, Delroy Leslie. I did this on condition he gave a written assurance to fight me next, which he did. Bingham has been avoiding me for long enough and when our paths cross at Widnes I will knock him out and take his British title"
