Sweden beat Finland 3-2 in the men's ice hockey final to take gold in the final event of the Games.

Niklas Lidstrom's snapshot in the third period proved the difference between the sides.

The Finns, who came into the game as the only unbeaten side of the tournament, took the lead early on through Kimmo Timonen, but second-periods goals from Henrik Zetterberg and Niklas Kronwall turned the game in the Swedes' favour.

Ville Peltonen levelled for the Finns, but Lidstrom, who plays for the Detroit Red Wings in the NHL, then hit what proved to be the winner.

Despite a rousing finale, Swedish net-minder Henrik Lundqvist pulled off a series of fine saves - including a spectacular stop to deny Niklas Hagman an equaliser.
