Top seed Amanda Coetzer of South Africa claimed her first title of the year over Russian second seed Elena Dementieva.
The 29-year-old South African grabbed a 2-6 6-1 6-2 win after coming into the tournament with losses in three of our four matches, including a tough three-set defeat to Venus Williams in the Australian Open quarterfinals in January.
But she bounced back with four straight wins this week to claim her eighth career title and a first prize of 27,000 US Dollars (£18,300).
Dementieva, 19, also lost three of four matches coming into this event before putting together her best week of the season. She fell to 0-2 lifetime in finals and against Coetzer.
Last year, Dementieva reached her first career Grand Slam semifinal at the US Open, won the silver medal at the Sydney Olympics and qualified for her first Chase Championships, where she reached the semifinals.
