Yanina Wickmayer claimed her first career title with a straight-sets victory over Ekaterina Makarova in the final of the Estoril Open.
The 19-year-old Belgian, ranked 88th in the world, breezed past the sixth-seeded Russian 7-5 6-2 to pick up her maiden WTA Tour crown in Portugal.
Makarova, 20, is still waiting for her first singles tour title. She also finished runner-up to Anabel Medina Garrigues at the Grand Prix de SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem in Fes earlier this month.
Wickmayer was delighted with her maiden tour triumph. "I'm really happy to have won my first WTA Tour title," she said. "I've worked hard for it. I don't really have many words to describe the feeling - I'm nearly speechless!
"I've been playing well for a few weeks now. I didn't have great results but I've been practising really well. I felt this coming, not that I was going to win a title, but that I was playing well.
"I beat some good players this week, two or three seeded players, so I'm very happy."
