Eleni Daniilidou won the Hobart International after Vera Zvonareva was forced to withdraw from the final.
Zvonareva left the venue on crutches after suffering an ankle injury in a pre-match practice session and is now doubtful for next week's Australian Open.
The world number 23 will travel to Melbourne where she will have a scan to determine the extent of the injury.
Zvonareva is drawn to face Japan's Ai Sugiyama in the first round of the opening Grand Slam event of the season.
Daniilidou's default victory brought her the fifth WTA Tour title of her career and the first since she won in Seoul in September 2006.
