Lindsay Davenport captured her 53rd career title with a 6-4 6-1 victory over third seed Julia Vakulenko in Sunday's final of the Bell Challenge.
The unseeded American was playing in just her third tournament this season after taking almost a year off due to pregnancy.
She made her return at Bali in September, but needed next to no time for adjustment, toppling three seeded players en route to an unexpected title there.
After another semi-final showing in Beijing the following week, Davenport took more than a month off before claiming the title in her debut at this indoor event in Quebec.
She posted four straight-set wins among her five matches, facing her only real challenge in a 6-2 6-7 (3/7) 6-3 triumph over second seed Vera Zvonareva in the last four.
Despite having never faced Vakulenko before, the 31-year-old Davenport had very little trouble in beating her third seeded player of the event.
Vakulenko, 24, was playing in her first career final after posting a 6-1 4-6 7-5 victory over American Julie Ditty in Saturday's semi-finals.
