Francesca Schiavone beat Yvonne Meusburger in straight sets to claim her first WTA Tour title at the Gastein Ladies claycourt tournament in Austria.

The top-seeded Italian, who had lost her previous eight finals, triumphed 6-1 6-4 against the unseeded Austrian.

Schiavone, 27, broke her opponent's serve three times in the first set and dropped her own only once.

Meusburger picked up her game in the second set but could not prevent Schiavone from clinching the victory.
