Anabel Medina Garrigues outlasted top-seeded Amelie Mauresmo 6-4 4-6 6-4 on Saturday to win the Strasbourg International.
It was the second career title in this event for Garrigues, who also won here in 2005. She captured her seventh career title overall.
The sixth-seeded Spaniard beat Mauresmo for the first time in five career meetings.
Medina Garrigues also will be hoping this event serves as a springboard to the French Open, which begins Sunday.
She will meet Varvara Lepchenko of Uzbekistan in the first round.
A two-time Grand Slam winner, Mauresmo was playing in her third final of the year. The Frenchwoman won her 24th career title at Antwerp, Belgium in February before losing to Justine Henin in the championship match at Dubai the next week.
Seeded fifth at the French Open, Mauresmo will face American Laura Granville in the first round.
