Jelena Jankovic completed her third tournament win of the year at the expense of Svetlana Kuznetsova.
The third seed from Serbia, Jankovic coasted to a 7-5 6-1 rout of Kuznetsova on Sunday to win the US$1.34 million Internazionali BNL d'Italia.
It was the the third title of the year for Jankovic, who also won at Auckland, New Zealand and in Charleston, South Carolina.
The only other three-time winner this year is world number one Justine Henin.
"It's an unbelievable win for me. I've got better and better through the week," Jankovic said.
"I moved so well - that was the key to the match today. She's such a powerful player and I was just trying to cover as many of her balls as possible."
The 22-year-old Jankovic collected US$181,980 for the win that should establish her as one of the favourites for the French Open that begins next weekend.
While Jankovic again got to celebrate, the disappointment continued for the second-seeded Kuznetsova, who fell to 0-4 in finals this year. She also came up just short last week in Berlin.
"Maybe it's something mental - it's something that only happens in finals usually," Kuznetsova said. "I know I can play so much better than I did today."
Kuznetsova also will figure prominently at Roland Garros.
Despite the loss, she still has won eight of her last 10 matches on clay.
Last season, Kuznetsova broke through at the French Open by reaching her first final before losing to Henin.
