Anna Chakvetadze claimed the Moorilla International title in Hobart on Friday.
The Russian top seed beat surprise finalist Vasilia Bardina 6-3 7-6 (7/3).
Chakvetadze raced into an early 3-0 lead but then seemed troubled by an abdominal injury picked up in her semi-final.
However, she dug in to take the first set and looked to be on her way to an easy win when securing an early break in the second.
Qualifier Bardina had other ideas and she broke Chakvetadze twice to leave herself serving to square the match.
But she was unable to do so and Chakvetadze wrapped up victory in the ensuing tie-break.
The title was the Russian's third on the WTA Tour and completes an excellent week's preparation for the forthcoming Australian Open.
