Russia's Maria Sharapova won a final-set tie-break against Lindsay Davenport to claim the Pan Pacific Open title in Tokyo.
Sharapova stormed through the first set 6-1 but the top seed hit back to take the second 6-3.
Both players held their nerve in the final set which went to the tie-breaker and the Wimbledon champion took the victory when her forehand at 6-5 in the tie-break was too strong for Davenport.
"I'm very happy to have won," Sharapova said. "It obviously was a very tough match."
