Benesova claimed her first tour title at the Mexican Open in Acapulco.
The Czech qualifier had claimed the women's crown with a 7-6 (7/5) 6-4 triumph over
Italian Flavia Pennetta.
Benesova, ranked 100th in the world, grabbed her maiden victory in her second
career WTA Tour final, having been a runner-up in 2002 in Bratislava.
Benesova said: "I am so happy to win this title. It means a lot to me because
it is my first one.
"I think it helped me to play through the qualifying as I was more used to
the court and the conditions.
"I think I played pretty well, I'm happy with my performance here and I will
be back next year for sure."
Pennetta also was playing in her first WTA Tour final, having found more
success on the ITF circuit, where she has won six events.
