Victoria Azarenka eased to her second title of the year with a 6-1 6-3 victory over top seed Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark in the final of the Cellular South Cup.
The second seed from Belarus dominated her sixth career final and won 73 per cent of her first-serve points while capturing four breaks from five opportunities to seal the win in 71 minutes.
Azarenka was delighted with her all-round performance in Memphis.
"I started well, putting a lot of pressure on her," she said.
"I did everything I should have done. I was commanding the points. I think I got more confidence as the match went on, too."
Wozniacki saluted her opponent's fine display, saying: "She was just playing great, I didn't feel I was playing badly.
"I felt like everything I hit just came back faster. I had beaten her before and I was hoping it would turn out that way again, but she just played a great match. There wasn't too much I could do."
The 19-year-old had reached four finals over her previous two seasons but did not breakthrough until she won the Australian Open warm-up event in Brisbane in January.
After a disappointing showing in Melbourne where she was forced to retire from her fourth-round match against eventual champion Serena Williams due to heat-related issues, Azarenka rebounded in Memphis en route to improving to 13-1 this season.
Azarenka did not drop a set in her first three matches before topping sixth seed Sabine Lisicki in three sets in her semi-final.
Wozniacki, 18, was looking for her fourth career title in her first final of the year.
The Dane had beaten Azarenka in the only previous meeting, a straight-sets win in the third round of last year's US Open.
