Top seed Anna Chakvetadze won her second straight WTA tournament with a straight-sets victory over Sania Mirza of India in the final of the Bank of the West Classic on Sunday.
The Russian's 6-3 6-2 triumph was her ninth consecutive win on a hardcourt after she also captured a title at the Western and Southern Financial Group Open in Cincinnati last weekend.
Prior to that, she won one of her two singles matches to help Russia beat the United States in the semi-finals of the Fed Cup in Vermont.
The 20-year-old Chakvetadze needed just over an hour to capture her third win in as many matches against Mirza this season.
She also beat Mirza in the semi-finals in Hobart and Cincinnati - both tournaments that Chakvetadze has won this year.
Overall, it was the third tournament title for Chakvetadze in 2007 and the sixth of her career.
Also 20 years old, Mirza was playing in her first final since Forest Hills in August 2005.
"This week has shown me that I can play good tennis consistently for the whole week - not that I played an ugly match today, but physically I don't think I took it as well as she did,'' said Mirza.
"But this gives me lots more confidence that I can go deep into a lot more tournaments.''
