Meghann Shaughnessy eased to a straight-sets victory over unseeded to Edina Gallovits on Saturday to claim the inaugural Barcelona KIA title.

The sixth seed from the United States broke world number 91 Gallovits early in the first set and never looked back as she went on to record a comfortable 6-3 6-2 triumph at the final claycourt event of the season.

Shaughnessy, 28, was in control throughout, and broke her Romanian opponent twice more in the second set to claim a sixth career title and her first in 2007.
