Spain's Lourdes Dominguez Lino avenged last year's defeat to Flavia Pennetta to claim victory in the Copa Colsanitas Segeros Bolivar final and secure her first WTA Tour title.
The number six seed once again faced the top seed from Italy but emerged victorious this time, winning 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 to take the US$28,000 (£16,064) first prize.
"It's the best, unbelievable," Dominguez Lino said. "I am very happy because I knew it would be a tough match.
"I played a great tournament. It is my first title and it is truly a pleasure to achieve this here, where I always feel welcome."
Dominguez Lino, who needed one hour and 45 minutes to wrap up the win, hit four fewer winners (22-18) than Pannetta but made half as many unforced errors (28-14).
"My strategy was to mix it up and not give her any rhythm," the Spaniard added. "I wanted to play high top-spin as well as low slice and hoped that she would become uncomfortable with it.
"In the end, I came through and didn't make many errors."
Pennetta said: "I didn't feel like I was in control and I couldn't play well.
"She took advantage of the important moments and won those points. She made me run a lot. I don't think I've ever run that much in a match.
"I had no time to breathe. She played really well, really intelligently, and I really think she deserved to win this tournament."
The 23-year-old Pennetta was seeking to claim her fourth career tour singles title but fell to 0-2 in finals this season, having lost at Gold Coast, Australia, to Lucie Safarova.
She is ranked a career-best 16 in the world.
"In the end, I believe it was a really positive week. I won the doubles and reached the singles final," she added.
"I believe it's a positive tournament for me. I wish every tournament would end like this, with me reaching the final."
