Amy Frazier captured her first title of the year
and the eighth of her career with a 6-1 7-5 triumph over Sofia Arvidsson in
Sunday's final of the Bell Challenge.
Competing in a WTA Tour final for the first time since winning at Hobart in
January 2004, the 33-year-old Frazier captured her 10th consecutive win in her
first career meeting against the 21-year-old Swede.
Frazier, who upset top seed Nathalie Dechy of France in the semi-finals on
Saturday, claimed the first prize of US$15,000 in the Tier III indoor event. She
won a title in an ITF event in Houston two weeks ago.
Arvidsson, who had a 6-4 1-0 lead over third seed Marion Bartoli in the last
four when the Frenchwoman withdrew, was appearing in her first WTA Tour final.
